El Centro East border crossing
Can anyone tell me why I never see any motor homes, travel trailers or RVs going through this crossing? We took our storage trailer through that
crossing and it was fine. Just wondering if it is wider or easier at the old crossing.

I quit using the East port about 2 yrs ago as it was not possible, due to the barriers, to exit with a trailer without going through the secondary
inspection area which was fine as you just got waved through. However that changed and to exit from secondary any vehicle that entered had to be
inspected thus this created an unreasonable wait and hassle. Since you just came through did you have to exit through secondary or have they
established a alternate exit for RV's and trailers

We had about a 16 foot storage trailer and just kept to the right. They made us open it (which we expected.......there was nothing in it but a few
tarps) and the sniffing dog went into it and around it and then we were on our way. Just waited in line with everyone else and were told (by friends
) to keep to the right and we did. I never see any trailers and rvs or motor homes.. Of course we went through on an early Mon. morning. Nancy

Funny...I have never noticed any sort of RV in these lines except for us towing the boat! Where does everyone with their RV go?

RVs to the East
I Always take the East crossing in both directions.
And, there are always Motor Homes, Travel Trailers.
Perhaps only a small percentage. I wouldn't know since I don't go the other way.
It would be understandable, though, since it IS a Difficult and TIGHT navigation if you're in a BIG RV. I've seen more than one get
hung up on those Guide-posts with ugly results.
Then, as mentioned, there's the exit once you've crossed. Can't zig-zag to dodge the barriers like we do.

All RVs and trailers of any type must use the furthest right hand lane at the Calexico East crossing. I do believe that lane is slightly wider than
the rest. I use this crossing frequently and always see numerous gringo casa moviles there.
One time when I was a newbie I was towing a 34' 5th wheel.  Not knowing I had
to use the right lane I just bebopped up to one of the regular lanes. Believe me, it was an extremely tight squeeze. The Customs guy was quite understanding though when I told him nobody let me move
over to the right lane.
