Monday Morning Fishing--Otra Vez, BA
I hope we don't bore you but the weather & fishing right now is very good--Yellowtail & Calicos! Calm seas with warm morning orange painted
Sunrises. Short run out to the north and bang--double hookups! I burned my thumb on the first run and then a good fight with 12-15kilo YTs. We
only need a few as we've now been eating YTs for a week. Calicos on spinning gear; what a blast! Juan keeps moving us back on the reef & it's
so easy! No te haces falta, amigos. Only fun loving people need to apply!  Tio

Yep...Juan sure tired out tiotomas and bajarat allright....more noodle arms around here today...easy limits again of yellowtail and cabrilla. The
seiners went further north a bit thank goodness.
here is some of my lunch....ojos de cabrilla...yum yum

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

nice... no, more like perfect
swimming in the open Pacific during the mildly hot & humid days
while everybody's resting from their fishing quests.
I tell you, the whole town is eating fish these days.

mcfez...it's usually in the 80's and 70's at night...perfect and the water is nearly as warm these days...yeah baby

Sounds like perfect weather and water temps. I'd like to be there to do some diving and summer longboarding.
I should start my annual winter trips down south in August instead of October. It looks like you guys need some help eating the catch.
Is there a boat ramp there or a local I could pay to do a beach launch and recovery? 14 foot outboard.

SF &H...yeah, summer is our best time of year here...especially for surf on a south swell and we sure could use some help in the fish gorfing
department! There is no "ramp" but there are several places where we all put our boats in...a mexican style ramp and yes there are folks here who can
help you launch and beach...the diving is excellent when the water is clear too...great spearfishing.
Now about the eyeballs...I know I know it sounds gross. I rarely even eat any fish fillets anymore. I was exposed to fish head cuisine by the
indigenous people of the northwest coast...it is a delicacy reserved for special guests or high ranking officials (I love the look on the canadian
government officials faces when they are served a heaping plate of fish heads!!!:lol , then my amigos in laguna ojo de liebre loved feeding me fish heads as they believe it is an aphrodisiac...hahaha...sorry guys...still not gonna
play with you! They couldnt believe I would eat so many fish heads.
Honestly...the meat in the head is sooo moist and tender and juicy and has more of those fish oils that are good for ya...cheeks, the strips on the
top of the head are even better, Juan loves the lips but I go for those wonderful eyeballs. You can remove the plastic like round bit and the actual
white eye thingy that is hard before you eat it....I just spit it out later. It is kinda like an oyster but sweeter and tastier. It's easiest to get
it out with a spoon and a little salt on them is nice...some like lime but I like the flavour too much to put lime on it.
As some of you may attest to, I try to share my ojos with our visitors and turn them on to a new delicacy...some are bold and try it...but as of yet,
I dont have much competition for them which is great for me. I got Juan eating fish head now too and he loves them...we eat the heads and cook the
fish for guests or give it away...but he wont eat the eyeballs....whew!
So, I challenge you brave nomads...try them with an open mind. Calico eyes are by far the very best and perfect size. Yellowtail eyes are too big,
croaker eyes are sweet but tiny....I just boil or steam the heads till the meat starts to fall off...note...they are best eaten fresh and still warm.

Thanks for the info. Are you supposed to have a license for spearfishing? What do the army guys at checkpoints think about spearguns? Probably not a
problem, but just checking.

We often travel with spearguns and they are legal and you dont need a fishing license to spearfish from shore. The military are always very curious
and ask how they work...they like em! weapons....yeah!
