Coming Home to Los Barriles

If all goes as planned, I fly home to Los Barriles on Saturday. Yippie doggies, as much as I love the green hills of Vera Cruz, I am oh so ready to be home!
As of next Tuesday, Oct. 11th, I plan to be in Galeria Los Angeles on Tues. thru Sat., 10 am until 3 pm. Always looking forward to meeting any Nomads that stop by and wanna say Hi. The Gallery is located in La Casa de Vos, downstairs from Caleb's Cafe & Bakery on the secondary road going up from Tio Pablos, if you get to the Post Office you passed me by.

Ay Judy, thank you, remember 10 years ago when we met in the Mx. City airport, as I recall it was Julietta was making waves that day.

That is correct.
We have a rescue dog named Julietta because the vet thought that she was probably born when the storm hit AND because she is a hurricane herself. We found her a few weeks after that on the side of the road tied to her sister by their back legs/:fire:

BTW the nights are lovely....72 when I woke up. Cant say as much for the days. Still hovering around 95!

I'll wander by one windless winter day and say hi.

Safe journey and happy homecoming,

windgrrl, dt, it would be great to finally put a face to your posts, yes please stop by and say hi when you have the chance.

Shari, thanks ALWAYS for the invite, someday I hope our paths cross again, be it land or sea, meanwhile, I am glad we have cyberspace.

So Judy, is Julietta still with you? Heck of a way to start out life, I gotta say, no fun at all. Although, if she is with you, things surly turned around for her.

Funny, how I can have such fond memories of such a difficult time. Julietta did wreak a wee bit of havoc when she blew thru my life. It was a son-of-a-gun getting home that day, but in the end, I smile when I think about the adventure of crossing the arroyos, walking alone until I got another ride.

Yes Etta is still with us and still a hurricane. We call her "a chihuahua in terrier clothing"...very high strung but one of the most lovable dogs I have ever had. She loves to snuggle.
And...I worried about your getting home that day we parted company. That hurricane wrecked havoc on this area. We had to wade through chest deep water to get home....had our dog, mochi, on a leash and she swam along with us. When we got home, our house sitters had used all our gas, eaten all our food and they thought that they had drunk all our wine.....but no...I found a bottle of red wine behind some pans. We opened a can of sardines and had fish dinners with wine sitting on our porch....perfect!

Alrighty Judy, I love happy endings and Etta's story is a good one. Thanks for the momentary smile of a great seafood dinner and bottle of wine.
I recall how sweet it truly was to sleep on my own wet stinky mattress, I didn't care, I was home on my porch looking up at a baja sky, just so overwhelmed with gratitude to my lucky stars, I was home! O.k., enough is enough, now I really am ready to come home.

Sally, Irony is, I fly home tomorrow, same day as the auction. I too am so sorry I couldn't find a way to get the painting to you in time. I knew it would be a strech from Vera Cruz, and not too many folks I know head North to the States this time of year, much easier to get a ride South.

I Hope the event is sucess and that all heals with Juanita and your family.

Rhintransit, maybe you would like to check out Coatepec or Xico VeraCruz. Both are small Small Colonial Cities on the edge of beautiful woods, lush, lots of water falls, not many tourist.
Windgrrl, it would be nice to meet you, I always enjoy running into your posts.
O.k., if all goes according to plan, I should be home in 22 hours more or less.

coming home

We are usually back in LB by my birthday 9/28. Health issues are keeping us in the states until Nov. or Dec. but we are eating up some time RVing. Right now we are in Zion national park, Utah. Got snowed on last night in Filmore. Man was it cold! Eli, we will have to hook up. I might know your face but not by name. Debbie and I go to many functions but we spend a lot of time in "the hills" bird watching. Catch ya later.

Chris, I bet you know me from Galeria Los Angeles, I am Sara (Sally). I am one of Debbie's elusive "partners in crime", jeje.
Look forward to see you hope in Nov., Meanwhile, take advantage of the cold to snuggle.

Sadly she had parvo and died about a week after we found them. Her name was muffin. I was so distraught over someone tying the two of them together and then dumping them on the side of the road that after Muffin died and when Etta started showing signs of a sickness(throwing up and diarrhea, that Felipe insisted on keeping Etta over the weekend. He was afraid that I would totally fall apart if Etta died too...particularly in my presence. So as soon as we left his office, he gave Etta a shot of antibiotics and 20 minutes later she was standing on her hind legs in her cage barking.....she did not stop until we picked her up first thing monday morning. We have always called her our miracle dog because since she was obviously exposed to parvo, she only had a 20% chance of survival......AND she still hasnt stopped barking.
Here is the little angel since you seem interested!

If you look closely at her rear right leg, you can see the scar from her being tied to muffin.

Sorry Sara...dont know how your coming home started a dog thread....just lucky, I guess:biggrin:
