Paying 2012 Property Taxes In Loreto—INAPAM
There have been several local Loreto email posts recently about paying property taxes in Loreto and the discount (or not) given to INAPAM card
holders. People seem to be having very different experiences this year, both in paying taxes and in getting the INAPAM card if you are 60 or older.
I paid our property taxes on our house, showed my INAPAM card, and received a 50% discount. Eazy-peazy. Exactly what I did last year at the Catastro
office counter. Now I am told others are not being given the same discount; some are being required to show a letter of naturalization (?) etc.
There are few things more frustrating than unequal policies, particularly without explanation.

I was just into pay my taxes and they give only 30% not 50% with your card. You have to be a Mexican to get the 50% with the card.

I've had my card for a few years now.
some friends got their INAPAM cards here in Loreto last week. easy peazy. copies of passport, FM3, photos. in the door and out as quickly as the
manual typewriter would allow.
another friend applied yesterday. DIF is now requiring a 'letter of naturalization' to get a car.
change is a given.
but just what is a letter of naturalization?
by the way, I hear that on certain days of the week, card holders can get a 15% discount as ISSTE stores. can anyone confirm or deny?
reality\'s never been of much use out here...

I am not a Mexican citizen and I received a 50% discount on my property taxes with my INAPAM card.
As I said, people are apparently being treated differently.
When racial profiling was happening with the water company
earlier this year in Loreto, and select (gringo) water bills were raised a huge amount, Dennis was brought in to stop the corruption and it seems to
have worked. Our water bill increase was backed off immediately, when I proved none of our neighbors received the same increase.
It pays to be vigilant.
