burro a la disca in San Roque

Been a few days since we had a party so Nan & D planned a Burro Disca dinner at our cabin in San Roque.

David is a genious in many ways but this disca is superb for camp cooking...and the legs just unscrew for easy storage. So 20 of us had a great dinner of burro n beans...plus crab claws and ceviche for appetizers and Zoe's scrumptious cookies for dessert. Burro meat is delicioso and raised locally...very healthy meat!

and we were treated to a new BBQ phenomenon...spider dogs! here is one in the moonrise

and one last photo...just for David K!!! (kinda crappy shot but you get the idea and it's the thought that counts ....right David?) Moonrise over Toyota

Say what ??? Are you talking about the cute little animals people use to ride on, or carry supplies ?? Or are you talking about Langosta Burro ? { Which is a very old and very large lobster.}

During WW II my family lived on HORSE MEAT as "beef" was not available, expensive when it was, and horsemeat was very good and cheap. We had to buy it at the Pet Food store. None of us died, or got sick. Just lucky, I guess. :spingrin:

Those disc's are awesome to cook on. We have one made from the plow a tractor pulls.

burro was the meat staple in the old days and of course burritos came from the word burro...duh! Of course the baby burros are tender and sweet and the preferred meat like lamb. It truly is incredible...just ask anybody here who has eaten it...or some of the old time ranchers in baja...they'll tell ya! Burro machaca is the best you can get...only special friends get it and it is not sold widely commercially.

The rancher does a cool burro BBQ on his ranch complete with the ladies making tortillas and home made salso...and a few burros hanging around. Dont knock it till ya try it dudes!

Yes, burro machaca is the best....especially from Sonora. Although my wife's family from Sinaloa seem to think that theirs is the best. Matter of fact Sinaloan's think everything from Sinaloa is the best.
