New Toll booth for Sentri Lane San Luis

Yesterday we drove from San Felipe to Yuma crossing at San Luis. We proceeded to the Sentri Lane and found it partially blocked by construction equipment. There is a toll booth and according to the Yuma Sun newspaper the Mexican side will start charging 25 pesos to access that lane. As of yesterday it wasn't in operation and we were able to drive around the equipment and cross the border.

toll booth to Sentri lane?

We don't use San Luis but if it works there I would assume other locations will adopt the practice. Had heard this rumor on other sites, but hoped it was just rumors.

Mexico better be real careful with this as one of the Past Imperial County Supervisors wanted to charge everyone crossing back into Imperial County at the downtown Calexico port 50 cents. Mexico started screaming about this situation and the Supervisor said if people do not have at least this 50 cents to pay then they need not cross into the County. So, Mexico may get by with this type of thing right now but it can "BITE" them back later if Americans stop screaming loud enough. Is this just more Mexico taking advantage of U.S., as NAFTA definately favors them, again they better be careful as charging over $2 dollars a vehicle is just wrong and the screaming will be louder than they think!!
