Rumors of snow


In Catavina no less

At 1800ft. elevation (i think) I guess it wouldn't be all too rare..


Anyone pass thru there lately?

UMMM,,,what ? never seen any thing like snow in that area,,maybe a bit of fog on the west (coast) side trying to sneek in.....and I dont think its 1800 ft abv sea level,,no ??

Now that is something I would LOVE to see.

I have seen other deserts with snow, but ah, nothing would be as beautiful as Cataviña with snow.

We were there last Thrusday and it was cold in the middle of the day, but snow?

Jan 1995, turned on my heater in San Ysidro and it was on all the way to Sta Rosalia and back. Below freezing at night in the interior.

Certainly possible---the elevation sounds about right---its higher than one would think. I've woken up with my tent frozen with frost in Catavina before.

If you can get the area on Google Earth, it gives altitudes of almost everywhere you put the cursor.
Water depths as well for around shore.

More than once I have awaken to find my tent covered in frost there so a dusting of snow would not surprise me! :coolup:

I think it was 2-3 days ago, the Hwy Tecate/Mexicali
was closed, ice, I suppose that is more like 3600-
4000' or so
