Have you lost a dog/ owner found

A very nice dog came into our camp ground last Friday.
If you know someone who lost a dog give us a call and tell me what kind. You will need to ID the dog for me.
We are in Vicente Guerrero off the Hwy. about 1/2 and about 2 miles from the beach.
This dog has been well taken care of and missing it's family. I am sure the family is missing it too.
You can reach us by phone in Mexico

our email posadadondiego@yahoo.com
I hope someone claims this dog. But if not I would love to have it. Gonna take it to the groomer today for a bath.
U2U me also.

the beautiful collie that showed up here on Friday was claimed today Wednesday 2/22/12 by it proper owner. He was just out checking out the area. A guest at the Restuarant last night saw him and told Eduardo our son who he belonged to . We called him today and he came and picked him up. Glad buy sad too. He is a really nice dog. But glad he got to go with him loving family.

Thank you everyone for your kind words for this nice dog.
stay safe and drive careful

Irenemm, can you check the pads on the feet? Sometimes they offer a clue as to how long or how far a dog has wandered in the last few days. I know it isn't much but any port in a storm, right? Posada Don Diego's may be a place to look for the owner. Best of luck, the animal deserves better than to be lost.

DavidE,
I checked the pads right away and they are very smooth as can be. I live at the Posada Don Diego and we have not had any visitors with a dog. this dog has been well taking care of.
I will take very good care of this dog and will have no problem keeping it if the owner does not show up. My family and I are already in love with it.
But will have not problem giving it to it's rightful owner either. I am sad for the dog because I am sure it misses it family.

Good for you Irene!!! Sounds like this dog is going to have a good home no matter what.

I don't know why people don't put tags on their dogs with phone numbers to call. Names and addresses are not needed, a simple phone number or two will suffice.

It would be a good idea to take it to a vet to see if it is chipped. Does anybody know of a vet nearby that has the capability?.....dt

I am taking the dog to one today and hoping he has a chip reader. This vet is in Vicente Guerrero. So we will see.
well gonna see if he is even here today as schools and many people closed today for the Carnival in Ensenada which is a 100 miles away. Sounds pretty dumb to close school for that.
Thanks everyone for your help with this awesome dog.

I "lost" one in Santo Tomas once on the way down. We went in for lunch and when we came out, he was gone out of the truck. Couple hours later after searching everywhere, wasnt gonna leave without him, he was "found" ...100 bucks would get him returned...Paid the money and shortly after he was returned..in the trunk of a car with his feet wired together...Not a good day..Bad scene all round...

The dog was out of his yard and I guess went wondering about the town. As we are about a mile and half from his home he may have been following someone and did not know how to get home,
The owner said he is only about 11 months old. I though for sure this dog was about 4 he did not act like a puppy.
I was told by a few people later this owner is not a very nice guy. I wish I had know it before I would just have keep the dog. The guy really does not give a crap about his animals. We wanted and though we did the right thing by giving him back. If he shows up again I will not be giving this dog back.
This guy was not looking for the dog either.
Beautiful dog
he did tell my husband he paid 500.00 dollars for it and he would sell it for that too. I don't have that kind of money for a dog even a really nice one. wish i did. he needs a good home.
oh well that is what happened to the collie. Looked like Lassie

I had been following this story and was also happy that he was reunited with his owner, but now I am sad for the little guy :(. I hope that if this man paid $500.00 for his dog, that he will take better care of him. Jeesh!!! A human can't always love a dog, but a dog can always love a human.:saint:

If a dog gets off its leash and goes exploring, it can lose its way.

In 2003 we came across a dog along the road to Mision Santa Maria named 'Inky' (do you guys remember the trip report here and Discover Baja article?). It was about 8-9 miles east of Cataviña/ Santa Ynez and we hoped its owners were at the mission or back at Santa Ynez... nope.

We went to L.A. Bay next and one night at Camp Gecko while 4baja was putting on a fireworks show, Inky bolted and we searched and searched... ran away again.

The owners told us they were driving from Todos Santos back to northern California (I think) and were camping near Cataviña when Inky got loose. They searched for a couple days before giving up. Inky was a Baja dog from the Todos Santos area they had adopted some years before. She was old and apparently wished to stay in Baja and not die in Alta California.

Inky was loved by my daughter and in this photo at La Gringa you can see Bedman and Emma's dog Daisy... Lots of dogs at L.A. Bay so it was a better place for her to run away than the desert near Mision Santa Maria!
