Horizon and Fonatur

Must be in cahoots. Cost is now $800.00 R/T. You could fly to Costa Rica and back to LA for less that this. And Horizon isn't even a real jet--its a turboprop and its really crowded. Takes 1/2 hour longer to get there. We need a competetive airline to fly into Loreto and that will surly bring down the costs of flying down. Anybody got any new ideas on getting to Loreto cheaper (besides walking). Some of us oldtimers can't make the drive anymore. Horizon is a ripoff supremo.

It's what you can get away with when you're the only game in town. And the planes are full. Why would they change their game ? They're running a business.

Come on, guys

We didn't even have Alaska Air until Loreto Bay made a deal to subsidize the flight costs, and I heard the Loreto Bay organization left Alaska on the hook for several million dollars!

And before that there was Aero California, with their junker DC-9'ers that just about made it off the runway on a scorching hot day....I remember one departure run up where the pilot powered down and went back to the "terminal" when he couldn't get enough lift to take off! And then calmly invited 12 folks and their luggage to deplane!

Not to mention the AeroMexico DC-9's that never ran on time back in the 80's, and only went to TJ. That wasn't all that bad, except that they just didn't show up some of the time.

One time in 1985, my husband's folks flew in from Oregon via Phoenix on a Resorts International Vickers Vicount, back when the Nudist Resort in Nopolo was in full swing.......

I just love Horizon. And if you book enough in advance, you can get in there for $550.00.

When I think about that drive, I step right up to the plate and PAY. :saint:

Russ...
You can fly one-way TJ to La Paz on Volaris for $130 every day (10am depature into LP at 1:45pm).. Easy bus ride back up to LTO... AND no bagage fees

Aerocalifia has flights between LTO and SJD for $150..then catch a flight back up to LAX...or where ever...
