Any information if they have a website? I wonder if this is only for people who are interested in time shares or is it open to the public to purchase a ticket?

Anyone, anyone?

Calljet is a plane leasing company.
I would imagine this is only for Villas Palomas. Doesn't really say anything about Loreto. Only Ensenada Blanca, etc.

Last year, the Villa Group engaged AeroCalafia to fly from Cabo to Loreto primarily because they were selling time shares in the Ensenada Blanca development to their current owners at Villa Estancia in Cabo.

I'm thinking that this particular reprrt is inaccurate simply becaue as was previously posted, the Calljet people do appear to be merely a leasing operation. In order to fly in Mexico, or the US, one must obtained certification from the appropriate government agencies.

That said, I have wondered why the Villa Group did not develop a subsidy agreement with Alaska Air to lower the fares to Loreto from the US, and even perhaps to add flights, simply because only flying folks up from Cabo does not appear to me to be a great investment.

My understanding was that using AeroCalafia from Cabo fundamentally meant that only current vacationers to Cabo would be targeted. I also understand that the flights included some number of nights at the Ensenada Blanca property. But, it seems to me that most folks vacationing in Cabo would have limited time away from jobs, Etc. So additional nights at Ensenada Blanca would not be appealing to those who had a week to spend in Cabo.

It appears that when you book airline only on their site, it simply gives the same price as if you went to Alaska Airlines direct.

After hearing this rumor and then reading the article, I tried to find out more about Cal Jet. What I think I have figured out is that Cal Jet is a new company that will be flying to Mexico and possibly Costa Rica from Orange County. They planned to start flying to Cabo last fall, but because Orange County didn't have Customs and Immigration set up, it appears they never started. Now the Customs and Immigration at Orange County looks like it is up and running, from what I can tell.

I think Cal Jet is using planes provided by Xtra Airways based in Boise. I would guess that Xtra Airways has Xtra planes since one of the companies they served, Direct Air, just ceased business this month. The article says that Cal Jet will start flights to Loreto Saturday April 21. Alaska Air is starting a new Saturday flight to Loreto in June. The rumor I heard about Cal Jet also said that Alaska might start the Saturday flight sooner, due to Cal Jet.

This is all good news, since getting a flight into or out of Loreto at the moment is darn near impossible or the price of flying to Europe when you can get a seat.

Does anyone else have more information about these planned flights? Cal Jet doesn't even have a working web page yet, so it all looks a little like smoke and mirrors.

That Caljet site appears to only offer flights from Ontario to Laughlin. Thinking that if one is already out East as far as Ontario, the drive to Laughlin is not that long.

The Orange County Immigration set up is probably due to AirTran(subsidiary of Southwest) instituting flights to Cabo in a couple of months. My guess.
