Just Connected An "Alpha" WiFi USB Amplifier Gizmo

"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE!?"

WiFi signals went from poor to excellent. Other WiFi signals went from "not there" to fair to good".

I just plugged the cable in to the gizmo (I did spring a coupla extra bucks for the hot-rod stick antenna). The I plugged the other end in to a USB port, fired off the mini CD ROM disc and WOW! This ought to make those poor hotel WiFi signals enough to do things with.

I am not a compooter type person so believe me this thing is foolproof. I think.

I see a guy down the street perhaps pirating a wifi signal from someone down the block with a little Dick Tracy wrist Dish. If a guy had permitted access to a weak signal, fixed location, something like this would be fun to try.

http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-hack-satellite-dish-into-w...

In the states, those little dishes are in heaps at the land fill.

That's the one at the top of the list.

Here's the link for the antenna
http://www.data-alliance.net/-strse-WiFi-CARDS--fdsh--USB-cl...

I am OK'd to use the Wi-Fi here only it came in "poor" before and "excellent" now.

Something that annoys me no end. In the past few years, a whole bunch of hotels we've stayed at in Baja have offered free wifi.

Some examples include Jardines Baja in San Quintin, both Caracoles and Cowboy in Guerrero Negro, and Hacienda Suites in Loreto.

And yet, the high priced resorts throughout Los Cabos charge for the service. Like, with their ridiculous meal and beverage charges, they can't provide free wifi?

Yes it came with it. When I connected the new antenna to the USB port and installed the CD, it was all automatic, the computer and gizmo know which one is to be used. I don't have to select. It's supposed to be a 2012 model laptop, with the latest most sensitive WI-phi but it's a joke compared to the USB Alpha antenna. I like the part about not needing to click on this and select that. It only prompts as to WHICH of the many more signals you wish to connect to. Five star recommendation from a digital dummy.

Broken link above.

This is the one recommended for B and G Networks (which are the most common):

http://www.data-alliance.net/-strse-73/Alfa-AWUS036H-1000mW-...

Like the fact that the antenna is detachable. That means you connect a directional antenna for more range.

Here's what I got:

Alfa AWUS036NH $29

Plus the strongest antenna

http://www.data-alliance.net/-strse-template/alfa-dsh-wifi/P...

I purchased both through Data Alliance

I just plugged into the La Espnita network. Signal jumped from fair to excellent, all the way to 100% both in strength and signal quality.
