It is neither personal or political or about bad spelling (of non- place names)... It is only to educate those who spell PLACES wrong.
Now, if you like being wrong (and many of you do, as proven by the stuff some of you post, lol) or if you don't like to learn (really funny seeing the
two teachers here upset about teaching how to spell places correctly)... That is your trip! However, someone coming to Nomad to learn more about Baja
sees any 'regulars' here spelling a place wrong, just what does that say?
Be a good ambassador to Baja travel, spell the places right... and ADD MORE that I didn't include in the short list above!

Opps, that would be "spell the places correctly". Then again, common usage might come into play here as the languages are not static.

The Baja
I think, that maybe, perhaps, and possibly, THE BAJA might be correct, by golly. I always have referred to it as simply Baja, but upon reflection, I
believe that to be incorrect --- or could it be wrong, or does wrong imply something moral?
Baja is a state that is only part of the peninsula. I think I spelled peninsula correctly.
Baja California Sur is another state.
Thus, to refer to Baja when referring to the entire peninsula it just can't be "Baja", can it??
I think those Canadians might be correct! The Baja would refer to all of the Baja peninsula.
Then there is the problem of common usage and that one is always a difficult one.
So many a newcomer might be very confused and wonder what we are all talking about ---- Baja or The Baja.
