Anti-Rabies Vaccine Drive
Last Thursday we had a knock at the gate. A young lady in uniform who works for the Secretaria de Salud was going door-to-door inquiring if there were
animals on the premises that needed a rabies shot. Since we have three dogs and a cat that were due for their shots, we were happy to see her. When
we've had to use a vet for such things, we take our animals in individually, so having this front-door service saves us several trips.
So if a uniformed person comes to your door in La Paz in these days and you have animals in need of a rabies shot, you might take advantage of this
FREE service. The woman wouldn't even accept a tip.
Free rabies shots, affordable health care...I tell ya, I'm gettin' ready to leave this socialist hotbed any day now.

Perhaps this is something to consider. There is a risk versus reward balance to consider taking any shot, in particular vaccines, additional factors
may be considered when the source is unknown and the environment less than sterile. Good idea to get a rabies vaccine from a known veterinarian,
especially if they run wild.

I disagree kid, the vacine Mexican delivers free costs them $65 U.S. dollars a shot and there are serious controls. It's a great program, one Mexico
can be proud of. I gave a tip to the clinic kid yesterday because they only make $400 dollars a month and the work is dangerous and grueling. Viva
Mexico.

Exactly the point, when you accept the street shot and sign for it, it does cost money. The money is paid through a system unknown to you. There's the
point.
Do whatever you wish Osprey, however simply consider the risk versus reward for your dog and know the implications of accepting health care that
randomly stops by your door telling you need this shot for your pet.
It's best to know your pet's doctor, make a clear agreement with formal approach and documentation and interact to know your dogs health. A dog
probably shouldn't receive a rabies vaccine if isn't 100% healthy and the vaccination should be in a sterile environment. Many factors should be
considered for your dog or anyone in the family so common sense would suggest that you do not accept health care from the doorstep from someone
unfamiliar with you, your family and your dog.

displaced gringo. Where did you go Kid?
The reward is not some personal door to door choice. It is a free vacine against a known animal plague. Hello!!!!! Call your very exclusive
veteranarian college chairperson in your theoretical world and have him tell us the program should be scrapped and replaced by ????????????????? just
like they have in Luxemburg. The risk, of course, would be to not have the program -- show me how you think that's better.

If someone came over to offer your grandfather a free shot, would you allow it?
Consider each vaccine for each patient over a lifecycle, not a random free vaccine of unknown source, quality, makeup, side-affects and hazards.
Way too risky to allow a person to show up at the door give your dog a shot. Look up the adverse reactions.
