Perceptions of Beauty

You all can pile on here, but this is an interesting subject that keeps coming up.

Young Mexican men compliment me in a nice way about my looks.

My housekeeper told me today, when I was joking/complaining about being sixty years old, that her husband said that I was beautiful and that I must have been a model. She was not jealous of me at all,, just sharing his comment.

Do Latino men look at older women and see beyond the young thing?

I completely understand. Mexican women swoon over me.

"Igor. Que guapo eres"

I've learned to accept it now.

I remember when I was in my early 40s and we had our first grandchild...looked at my wife and exclaimed; "never thought I'd be sleeping with a Grandma"!

Wish I hadn't waited so long now!

It would be unfair to ask non-Latino men to respond to this question. It's a fact that the average man thinks of sex every 8 seconds, more or less. These men also think of eating and sleeping but probably less often than sex.

If you want the average older, white nomad man to honestly respond to this question, post your most attractive photo and we'll respond for all men, including the Latino men who saw you.

Some mature women radiate beauty from within, as well as in appearance------sounds like you are one of them.

When in China several years ago, many young Chinese women would titter and giggle as they passed me on the street. I asked our "guide" what they were saying, and she said, "they think you look like Pres. George Bush". :O

You just never really know what others think, but it is all good (hopefully) IMHO.

This happens to you too? While walking down the
street in Guatemala City back in the day, women
would stop me, and comment about my blue eyes

to quote Woody Allen:

Some men have it and some men don't
It's just that I have - so much.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

I recently saw an biography on Jack Benny. It seems that was part of his comedy as well. A loser who perceived himself to be a ladies man. The absurdity of it all had you laughing in stitches.

well, interesting question and from my latinA experience, I would have to say yes .... latinos have a very different perception of women no matter what the age. sexy is sexy. beautiful is beautiful. round and rotund desireable.

last year when I went to Mexico City, I was on my own when I went to pick up my passport and got flirted with on the streets .. hadn't had this happen to me in a looooooong time, trust me.

I married a Mexican woman older than me. We're coming up on 49 yrs together. If we live another year it's the golden. I still think she's beautiful.

All my childhood I wanted to be older. Now I\'m older and this chitn sucks.

i find it refreshing that mexicanos have a more realistic view of "beauty" and they appreciate normal looking women instead of only the model type movie star beauty. Doesn't matter if you are a bit rotund, short, not particularly pretty or a ripe old age..you still get hit on!!!

Hi Y'all, You Want a Picture?

All I have is tif files which I can't post.

For what it is worth, I won an Elizabeth Taylor look-alike contest a few (cough, several) years ago.

I am not holding myself up to any beauty standard, just making a conversation about perceptions.
