Four tons of marijuana pulled from ocean off California
Authorities found almost four tons of marijuana with a street value of $3.6 million floating in the ocean off Dana Point, California, on Sunday.
Boats from the Border Patrol, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Orange County sheriff's office were involved in recovering the 160 bales of marijuana,
according to a report from CNN affiliate KCBS.
A tip led authorities to the marijuana floating in the Pacific Ocean about 13 miles off Dana Point, the station reported.
Border Patrol spokesman Michael Jimenez told the Orange County Register that the fact that the pot was found with no suspected drug boats in the area
was unusual.
"At other events, they've dumped the bales to get rid of weight if they're being chased. Generally in these cases we're aware they're being dumped.
What's more unusual is that the bales were floating with no boat in sight," the Register quotes Jimenez as saying.

I live 4 mi. so. of DP, it is somewhat common for
Mex Pangas to be ditched on the beach so. of
San Clemente, Camp Pendelton and up to Santa
Barbara. But these are all carrying illegals.
Wonder why the Panga driver dumped his load?
Thaught he was being observed, high seas?
Generally the Popotla area just so. of Rosarito
is the origin of these smugglers

I was boarded by Customs returning from fising LaJolla and parking at Seaworld South launch. They didn't have a dog and were waiting for me at the
dock. Guess they were looking for pollos.

3.6 million is a chunk of cash.
glad it got lost and hope someone rots in Hades for trying to bring it in.

Wonder what would happen if states required a drug test, backed up by a doctor's Rx in order to get a driver license?

yeah, the boat prolly sank and the bales catch some wind like a sail so where they found them the boat wouldn't be right there.
