San Ysidro 42 Lanes Open?

Was this a misprint or are my eyes failing me? San Diego Union Tribune online: categorized "Border Wait Times Substantially Reduced"

Yup, that's what it says.

http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2012/jul/26/wait-times-reduce...

But read the fine print: "But a central question remains: Once the additional lanes are built, will there be enough staffing to keep them open?"

1/3 of the lanes (in the middle) didn't even exist last weekend. There were bulldozers digging. Seemed to be lanes on the right and lanes on the left, but the middle 3rd was gone.

42 booths, 20 lanes? You got me here. One on each side of the car? And the article was worded like it is an "is". It isn't? It's actually a going-to-be?

Jesus I need a shot of gusano blanco.

The stacked booths help but last trip I saw several times where the nearest booth was busy with a driver getting questioned while the second booth was empty waiting for the car to clear.

20 lanes x 2 booths/lane used to equal FORTY, but since it's a government project....
