Drug Stop at Manadero

A few weeks ago, I was coming down the hill in the dark to the drug stop and check at Manadero. I was in the left hand lane. There was some sort of a hold up in front of me and I was waived over to the right lane by the Federal Police. As I moved over I made the unforgivable mistake of running over one of their rubber cones. Jesus, I was creating an international incident. They (almost all of them) came screaming at me and one brought up the dented cone for me to see. I got out, looked at it, and told them "no es cosa grande". My 13 years as a soccer coach paid off as I punched out the crushed cone and dusted it off with my sleeve and handed it back to the officer. I got into my car and they waived me on. I think they wanted me to pay for it, but my attitude indicated that there was no damage and it was as good as new. I sometimes think they just don't know what to do with an old Americano.
