Mulege Mud

The crews are still working dawn to dusk and even worked today, Sunday. We've had LOTSof rain, causing small mudslides in town that the people quickly clean up. Those that have u2u'ed me - there is no flooding Anywhere! The little culvert bridge washes away, but is also quickly repaired. ( someone want to bring 2 - 24'' culverts : )

Todays rumors - Dredging barge is on it's way from Guaymas and "work" is supposed to be completed in 3 months.

Bigmike .. good- u-tube ... very relavent for 50 %er's ... the upside is huge for mulege ... any thing and every thing will help the area recover some of it's past glory ... But i have re-thought my opinion of the ''negitive waver's'' ... keep it coming in a 'fast and furious' way .. once the good news leaks out all the lookie lu's ... bottom feeder's ... and the 99 %er's will show up with enough dark clouds hovering about their heads that it just might cause another flood .....
brave hearts are required ....

The rain was only drop in the bucket, err bay. Bahia Concepcion Water is clear and warm. Santispac and Coyote are my favs, pick any playa where there are other campers. According to local lore, there will be no more rain, as the yellow butterflies are here :o

WOW newbie...

"lookie lu's ... bottom feeder's ... and the 99 %er's will show up with enough dark clouds hovering about their heads that it just might cause another flood .....
brave hearts are required ...."

If I interpret this correctly, folks who look but don't somehow invest in an exceedingly questionable development in a known flood zone are to be lumped with 'bottom feeders' (indicating an association with the Carp end of the sport fish continuum) and the vast majority of normal people who are not millionaires as people whose malevolent natures render them without courage, and potentially able to alter the weather.

Or, to paraphrase, only the top 1% of the wealthy who are potential investors are courageous enough and optimistic enough to keep nature from destroying their investment at sea level in the middle of an estuarial flood plain.

Maybe I'm trying to make sense of something that is.....

I'm feeling that Baja could use the money better someplace more permanent.:?:

WOW!!! How did you pull all that from his post? Maybe you need to stop drinking the koolaid...... and so what if he has just a few posts? I'm guessing that calling him a "newbie" makes you feel better, or is it that a high post count makes you more intelligent? :light:

Doesn't this BOARD call the NEWBIE a NEWBIE directly under his name??????????? It's a fact, perhaps? Not a slur.

And, perhaps you can explain what ColdBeer was trying to get across. To equate a skeptical view of this project with, a lack of courage, and a bottom feeding style, invited as less than warm response from someone who didn't agree with his assessment.

Maybe if we're all optimistic enough, the hurricanes that have battered Mulege historically will stop forming, and the obvious hydraulic problem caused by the topography, as Engineermike pointed-out, will cease to be a threat to the yacht harbor and infrastructure downstream from the bridge. Maybe.

Maybe Cervesafria will clarify themselves?

Maybe someday life will really be like a Southerland movie. It would be funnier.:lol:

It has been pouring rain here all morning, some mild wind with thunder and lightning
AND THE CREWS ARE STILL WORKING.
They are still going dusk to dawn. Presenty, the dirt is filling in the low areas in front of Don Chanos RV Park and it is looking good. Pics later

The Mulege Rio is like highway 1/101 in Oregon and Northern Cal. It will forever be a maintenance or rebuild work in progress due to the topography. The question is having the resources to deal with it on a continuing basis. Those that understand this will live with it and those that don't want to deal with it will simply steer clear.

Nothing happens small here in Mulege except the narrow streets and the refills at the local watering holes... and speaking of watering holes there's a lot of mud puddles slick as the giant slide at a waterpark... but, it was only a strong, short rainstorm this morning and the river is at normal summer levels. No waves, whitecaps or refrigerators 'n dead cars floating down.

No worries today, MulegeMichael. All well, gorgeously green with a light sprinkle (that's rare for Mulege!) birds are singing, butterflies doing what they do best.

The rain stopped an hour ago and like maria said, no worries. On the other hand, 2 locals stopped by to tell me to keep an eye on the water for the next 2 days, as it is still coming down in the mountains. I`m sure the culvert bridge is stressed once again. Anyone with a spare culvert?

I'm headed through town tonight and will check on the little culvert bridge.
