A trip to the market

True story 2 hours ago.

Here I am in the market checkout, nice young lady asks am I off to Baja this year? Oh yes, I say, begining of November. Aren't you nervous she asks, with all the shootings? I give the usual platitudes the way we do and go on my way.

This is small town Stanwood, Washington, USA. So I walk across the parking lot to the pharmacy to meet the wife who's shopping there and
Bam...Bam...... Bam, Bam, Bam, Bam, Bam, Bam, Bam, Bam, Bam,Bam, .....Bam, ...Bam,

Right away I know that they're 14 shots from a 9mm semi auto. Possibly one mag. I was a weapons guy in special forces and prez of a combat style gun club.

Then come the police sirens and lights. Car on every corner around the area with a cop with a H&K MP5. That was good thinking.

Seems someone robbed the bank by the market...Next to a grade school and tried to escape on a bike. Happy to say he was caught, wounded.

Don't know the full details yet but I know that those shots weren't aimed, they sounded panicky to me. Wonder where they all ended up. Contrary to media and movie belief, bullets keep moving until they hit something, anything, anybody.

Am I nervous about going to Baja in November?
No, but I am nervous about going to the local market.
Not really. But Oh the irony..!!!

WOW...THE IRONY OF THAT IS TOO FUNNY!

I always tell people that you have a better chance of something happening almost anywhere here in CA...especially in major cities like L.A., San Diego, Santa Ana, etc. where their is major gang activity from gangs of every color, ethnicity and country.

As for me...I'll take my chances in Baja anyday!

Glad you and the wife made it out safely!

Sheesh, they used to make movies about bank robbers. Real ones with getaway drivers and a hideout with lookouts. A bicycle? Humphrey Bogart, and George Raft are probably rolling over in their grave. "Gimme the dough sweets or I'll plug ya". Glad you're OK

Apparently the guy came out of the bank and met a cop going in to do some personel banking, (Embarrassind!!!) the guy panicked and ran leaving the bike and the cop started shooting....14 freeking times.

The robber was caught at the market, wounded and is now in hospital.
