I felt rotten after my DVT and PE's, goes with the turf. Get well soon amigo!

You will get better! You dodged a very serious bullet.

For those who are unfamiliar with Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolisms it is important to know that the only way blood gets back to the heart is through the contraction of leg muscles. If we are bed ridden or don't move our legs for long periods of time then blood can pool in the veins and clot. The chunks of these clots can break off and lodge in the lungs, heart or brain, very serious matter indeed, life threatening. This is something that often happens on long distance air flights. Many Pro Football players were support stockings that go up to their knees while on long flights.

Stay moving and stay hydrated. You can and should contract your calves every so often when driving. Make frequent stops to walk around when driving and STAY HYDRATED.

I'm sorry to hear of your recent ailments, Ken, but am glad to hear that you're on the mend.

I read a bit about DVT and it looks as though my dad may have had it in his later years. We never knew.

I don't suppose there is a connection between DVT and all the diving that you did?

Apparently it's undetected until things get bad so it's really good you were seen by some sharp doctors.

Best wishes and keep in touch, amigo.

Gracias Igor. I asked the docs if this was diving-related, and they said no. The clots are masses, not bubbles. Diving-related embolisms are nitrogen bubbles that get lodged in places they shouldn't be. Thank you for the kind words.

Ken, best wishes for a complete recovery. If you don't hear from me for a while, I'm out jogging. Just started today (and deep knee bends).
