Have this book when traveling in Baja or Alta California!

Learn WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and WHY of the California missions' founding from 1697 in Loreto to 1834 in Guadalupe.

ALL 27 missions in Baja California (Mexico) and 21 missions in Alta California (USA) are described in order of their founding date and not limited by their location inside countries that didn't exist when they were built.

Discover the true relationship between the peninsula missions and those from San Diego north to the San Francisco Bay area.

For 72 years, the padres and their Indian neophytes built 18 missions, roads, aqueducts, and more before they founded the mission at San Diego... which we were told was the 'first' California mission by our teachers and books. Another falsehood is the teaching that the missions were built from south to north like a ladder, a 'day's ride' apart.

With facts, details and maps we show what really happened during the 152 year mission period in California (Baja & Alta).

Order your copy using PayPal or our P.O. Box from our web site: http://oldmissions.com OR purchase off the shelf at Discover Baja Travel Club (San Diego), Baja Books and Maps (San Jose del Cabo), and other locations announced on our Facebook page (come see many color photographs of missions and other details not in the book) at http://facebook.com/oldmissions (please 'Like' the page when you visit).

Great for Holiday gift giving too!

A page of data and a page of photos for each of the 48 missions (two example above) plus historical details on the discovery of California, the Catholic Orders who founded the missions, and more.

About
This is the FIRST book that tells of the founding of all 48 of the Spanish California Missions in order and not based on a border made years later between two countries that did not exist when the missions were built.

Description
145 pages, with over 160 photographs and maps that tell the story of how Spain occupied the land originally believed to be an island. Using Catholic missions and soldiers, Spain expanded south to the tip of Baja and north beyond the San Francisco Bay. All 48 missions founded from 1697 to 1834 are described in the chronological order of their establishment. Historic maps and photos along with modern photos at each mission plus three locator maps to show the missions in the three modern states of California, Baja California and Baja California Sur.
