Place to rent in S.F. area
Y.I.M.
I have only been to San Felipe once in the last 30 yrs., and I don't want to step on any toes since I found this question on the age thread. But when
we were there last year, we went to puertocitos(sp) and since we arrived late we camped, I believe in the area that this photo was taken. It was
enclosed brick with concrete floor with stairs that went up on a deck like construction that look out towards the bay. If you go north of there,
there is the agua caliente about 1/2 mile. South about 100 feet on the beach, there were, I thought only 4, but my husband says that there were a lot
of rooms for rent for as long as you wanted them. The guy wanted $35 per night but would have taken probably $20. The one room we looked at, had 2
beds 1/2 bath. On the beach there were bbq's, picnic tables and palapas all along the beach. There was a courtyard out a back door of the room. Not
much landscaping at all, and no where to park close by from what we gathered from the guy who was in charge. All in all, taking in acount that we
were there on the day of the dead and just before the shrimp fest., it might be different this time of the year because we were the only people around
at that time. Or maybe not, since, isn't this [now] their off season?
At any rate I hope this helps somewhat, as I really don't know much about thas area. Only that there were places to rent and camp.

hey BajaRob...they moved your home!
Even the stray dogs hate Puertocitos ! You are not stepping on my toes. Puertocitos was once upon a dreamland till the owner died off(?) and the
daughter decided to jack up the land rents. Mostly all vacated the settlement. it is now just a hole in the wall.
I think BajaRob willl have a heart attack to find out his home has been moved to Puertocitos ! Please read c/c below.

excellent camping @ Nuevo Mazatlan, 2km south of us. You can check it out on David's site. BTW, when did you take the pictures?
Bert and Adrienne finally made it out here for our last New Years party.
It was Lynn Flock that you spoke with. I just towed him here from KM9 with a blown head gasket. I think he's been here for more than 25 years. Rob

O.K. you're on. Thanks
Our vacation won't be until Oct.1 though. I already spent the Baja trip money for the summer. And besides, Jim needs a roller coaster fix, before I
get back to Baja. Maybe I'll get a side Job. Weather here as you know is drying out the grass fast, and the neighbors need some work done, mowing
and trees cut down, etc. Most of this stuff has to get done soon or there will be to much fire danger. Will let you know if things change.
Hey did you go fishing up at the moke river? Catch anything?
Later.

Hey great,
Glad you liked it. Did you make it all the way to where I sent you? I took my grand daughters up last weekend to see how high the water was. Didn't
go past the power house though, because the youngest was deturmind(sp) to go swimming. Big NO NO right now even up there.
Jim and I were talking and thought that since you live so close, we might get together for a BBQ or since I have replenished my mex. food...tacos?
Any way, if you have somekind of self contained vehicle, I don't see why you couldn't park it here.
By the way, I'm not playing the JR game anymore,,,, tooo boring. Let me know.
Oh how many are there of you? Do you have kids or g-kids.
I could get the girls over to play with them if you do and want to bring them too.

Y.I.M. Jim works weekends, but we think he's going to have monday off which will give him 3 days off. The only prob. with that is you will be going
home by then. I was going to go check out lake Tabeau today to see if there is camping there or not for you. I might just go check it out anyway for
futher references. If you walked up the river and went past the power house, you would have seen a very large pipe going up the hill. The water in
that pipe comes from Lake Tabeau. It's not a very big lake...no boats and no swimming. But the plant it heavely with trout all the time.
Thanks for letting me know though, because I was just out looking over the property to see if I could find a comfortable flat spot away from the hwy.
Hope you guys have a good time and be careful. If you're going to be there during Jims days off let us know and we'll come down. He really needs a
vacation from work, and wants to do some coasters anyway. Besides it's close to home.

Baja Nomad Sticker???
Hey Yankee, I know what you meant, but you may get a bunch here all excited!
I really would love for Doug to have them... But, until he does, Nomads can sport a 'got baja?' sticker (for free)... When you see one on a rig, you
know it is very likely a Baja Nomad's.
A change on my web site, at the top, is a link to HERE (Baja Nomad forums)...
Other Nomads with stickers are Baja Bernie (Bouncing Around Baja), Gregorio (Baja Ca Conservation), and Mexray (Baja Life). I am not sure if Carlos
Fiesta still has his Baja Expo stickers...

Too bad yank boy--
your statements about Puertecitos are so far off that it should be funny. But it isn't and you're wrong!
I have been there and owned a house since 1981.
The place has undergone some changes as have many other areas, due to many factors.
The only real reason that Puertecitos hasn't exploded is the POS road.
I fly most of the time , so I don't really care. But to many it is a tough trip, esp. if you're an older retired person with some health issues.

We personally thought Puertecitos sucked. HOT DOGS and no bread or tortillas. Is this another planet or what?

Oh God! The trash that is sprawled from one end of town to the other. Abandant cars, trucks, trailer and boats scar the dusty landscape more so than
any other little village. Homes that are in a state of total decay. The new-like gas station that NEVER opens, and is literally falling apart from a
lack of maintenance. Land values are plummeted to the dark pits of the flow chart.
quote: "The place has undergone some changes as have many other areas, due to many factors.: yeah...into total decay and disregard to the village.
I see Mexicalli as a vacation resort compare to Puertecitos! A little nuke down there might help clean it up! But?..I guess beauty is in the eyes of
the beholder.
Perhaps my freind there is a reason why they dont pave the road to Puertecitos....to keep tourists from traveling there, and to keep Baja's reputation
as beautiful.
Yankee boy? What's that? Boy? So you get off on personal attacks? I will trash Puertecitos as long as it's trash. But not you personally.

Yes, it has all that - and more! I like the place.

Baja Spell Checker gives you Nomads high kudos for spelling the place correctly! Viva Puertecitos, the Rocky Point of Baja, only worse!

Good news. Think I might take a little trip considering there will be a new road from SF to LA bay.
Will a few hundred by the whole place?
I could throw in some beads and trinkets if that's not enough.
