Take care of trash and oil problem all in one

Someone sent me this. It seems to work with plastic trash bags and other assorted junk. Might be a real oil well here in Baja.

A little light on the details...

.. like, how much power does it take to turn a kg of plastic into a liter of diesel? 5 liters? 10?

Who cares? It said it was a UN project, right? More BS.

If it was for real, and efficient, the trawlers would be headed out to the North Pacific Gyre to net the plastic bottles, etc. as we speak.

Too bad. It's a nice idea, I'd love to see it really solve the waste plastic problem. It's just that you get a little cynical after seeing a few dozen of these 'processes'.

The video was funded by the UN, not the project. Try to be a little open minded.

I agree that this process will have a larger energy input that output, but in Baja it could easily be solar powered. The trick is to scale from a benchtop machine to actual production.

Pescadore. I saw this a little while ago and thought the same as you. It could be at least a start for getting rid of the plastic, and creating a new "green" industry.
