Lewis & Lewis What' up??

I've had annual auto policies with Lewis & Lewis for several
years. My current policy was expiring and I wanted to renew
it. It's been more then two week since I contacted them.
First by email thru their site, then a fax and several phone messages.
They have never contacted me.
Are they still writing policies??
They have always given prompt customer sevice to us in the past. Not a good way to run a business!!

Their voice mail gives their business hours
and says to leave a message with policy #
& they'll get back to you!! I've called both the
800 and the 310 #'s with no returned call.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again

This came up last year. As I recall, Lewis and Lewis is a small company with only a few employees. Keep calling at various time of the day, and you should get a live person.

Have nothing but good things to say about them. Have 3 vehicles and my house insured with them. Had my Jeep stolen out of my driveway 3 years ago. Was recovered with $2400.00 worth of damage. The Mexican underwriter was only willing to give us $ 300.00, and Lewis & Lewis wrote me a check for the difference out of their own funds. How about that for service ??

I've had Lewis and Lewis for 5 years. NEVER A PROBLEM! Tehy even send me a reminder when my policy comes near to renewal. You can't beat the coverage they offer, even uninsured driver coverage. I wonder, how many Mexican drivers have insurance? Is Insurace coverage for Mexican autos mandatory? I really don't know.

I have heard that if you are in an accident and you don't have insurance (resident or non-resident), you got directly to jail. Mexico has an "at-fault" auto accident policy (guilty until proven innocent). So I would assume that everyone who drives has insurance....but maybe they say they to scare the tourists
Maybe the USA could learn something from our neighbor to the south :?::light::?:

I can't remember how long I have been with Lewis & Lewis. I think 15 years. When did Vagabundos drop them? I am waiting for a problem so I can switch to discover Baja. Still no problems. Just renewal notices.

We had problems with renewing Lewis & Lewis. Went to Discover Baja four years ago. They are outstanding. We had a truck stolen they paid and our State Farm Paid. Also we found out that State Fram for the last three years only covers you 50 miles into Baja or Mexico. Lucky we were at the 48 miles. Make sure you talk to your US insurance people and find out how far they cover you. Most have changed in the last few years.

Lewis and Lewis lost many customers in 2004. Because of the Tripui fire and other palapa fire claims they sent notices of termination of palapa coverage in 2003 for 2004. Later the recanted their policy and now insure palapas with conditions and limitations. With the large amount of property and homes being built recently they figured they better negotiate with underwriters. Based in Beverly Hills I was amazed to get a letter from "Mr. Lewis" himself.
