Yay! SENTRI app approved (conditionally)
and right on time: while I'm in baja.
Sigh... I expected this. So, one more "SENTRI-less" crossing later this month, then hopefully I'll have it for July or August travels...

Well either way, you need to cross the border to get to the SENTRI offices for an in person interview.. Curious...when is your interview? I had to wait another 3 months for the earliest opening!

Check back every day for interview openings. You might get lucky. I got a next-day one last time I added a vehicle. Remember that you won't get your
SENTRI for a week after you pass the interview, and it'll be mailed to your US address.

I put in for my sentry almost three months ago, and it is still in the review process, and I log in daily.

Renewal?
Udo- Was yours for renewal?
I had a SENTRI card for several years, but let it expire when I was working in Northern California. Perhaps that made it a shorter process.

I'm scheduled for July 7, @Otay.
They had an opening June 20, but too soon (still in Baja), and that disappeared real fast!
I applied for 2 cars-- both are listed on interview confirmation. So, do I need to drive both at same day for inspection?? Recruit a friend to drive
one for me??
I'll call the office when I get back.

Took almost 6 months to get my sentri appt. A friend came down as he had an appt earlier than mine and I went with him (Otay). The ladies at the
front desk are awesome as I asked if it would be possible to get mine done that day (I brought all my stuff) They said no problem - I was called for
my interview and got it done.
Sometimes it just pays to be polite - I think you could actually walk into the office and at any time, with all the necessary paper work, talk to the
ladies at the front desk and you will get taken care of. Govt workers often get bashed, but these people are awesome!

This doesn't happen anymore. People are waiting at the Otay office for two hours WITH an appointment. There are posted signs at both the Otay and
San Ysidro office that walk-ins are not accepted. When the San Ysidro office just opened, they took walk-ins, but they don't anymore.
If you want to change your appointment, you just have to keep checking the schedule website, because appointments can open up momentarily, and they go
fast.

Best to advise your potential recruits that the MINIMUM wait time is about two hours. My appointment was four hours from start - when I walked in the
office, to finish - when I got the sticker on the car.

I recommend getting the earliest appointment in the AM that you can. I waited a couple extra weeks so I could go early. The later in the day the
longer the wait.

The CBP officers in/at the Otay SENTRI office change shifts at 2PM......you can get lost in the fog. Early is better.

Otay is open until 10pm, for those who like to go late.
