loading up at the duty free store
dick kashey got me hooked on hitting the ueta store in san ysidro, the couple times a year im up there. there's definitely some dough to be saved.
24 can cases of ice cold tecate are 15 bucks, no tax, no crv, 15 bucks. a couple bucks cheaper for american beers. now we all know the mexican legal
limit that nobody adheres to, but if you're unlucky enough to get the red light, do you think customs folks would be more tolerant if at least you
were bringing in mexican beer??

What does ueta mean and where is it located in San Ysidro, please?
Ok, here is their website: http://www.ueta.com/locations_result.php?page=2&search_k...
I get the picture of what the store is and what it sells, but what does ueta mean?
I'm sure Mexican Immigration is aware of the numerous ueta stores along the US-Mex border. As to whether they'll ding you for having Mexican beer, ask
'em. btw, in years past the Tecate beer you could get didn't come from Tecate; it came from Monterrey. Word was/is Mexican Tecate tastes better than
the imported because of the water quality of both city's brews.
Myself, I personally like to buy local whenever possible. Why not? It helps the local economy.

Last month when I was at the UETA duty free in SY I saw suspicious activity at a white KIA parked next to me. There was a pair if legs sticking out
from underneath and 3 cases of Sheriff cigarettes, each holding 60 cartons (180 cartons total. This guy was stuffing them into space under the trunk
where the gas tank normally would be and they clearly were not for his personal consumption. Even at the UETA sales price they cost him at least
$1200USD and have a MX street value of around $4500USD. I left for the MX border before he was through and gave MX customs the car description and
(CA) plate number.
Next time I was headed south the recognized my car, waved me over and thanked me for getting them promotions and raises fot their bust.

This actually reminds me of the Cancun airport.
When attempting to board a plane back home, one must go though the security checkpoint.
Once past there, you are immediately in the duty free store.
That store sells the tiny bottles of booze that they give you on a flight.
So, if you buy a bunch of those small bottles and put them in your pocket, you will save big time at c-cktail time on a very long flight.
You're welcome.

UETA is a division of Duty Free Americas and as far as I can tell it is an acronym for United Export Trading Association.
