Gay marriage legal in some Mexican states?
While reading an article about the recent vote for gay marriage in Ireland, the author listed the countries where gay marriage was legal. I was
surprised to see included "some Mexican states".
Anyone know which states these are?
Further, who issues a valid marriage license in Mexico, the Municipality, the State or the Fed? Will Mexico honor a license issued in another
country? For example, if a gay, married couple from another country want to become Mexican citizens and they meet all the requirements, will their
marriage be deemed legal in Mexico?
And for you eye-rollers out there, I'm asking out of intellectual curiosity. Okay?

I helped a person get a marriage license here in Santa Rosalia and the license was issued by the municipality.

Like Pescador, I've been part of a couple marriages in Baja. Interesting times! Here's a thread about getting married in Mulege from start to finish.
Includes the marriage license and requirements needed for the local officials.

We were married in Cabo San Lucas by a judge. There were a number of requirements such as blood test, four witnesses, birth certificates, etc.
We had our ceremony up the coast near Elias Calles a few days later.

Sometimes I completely forget about the Google machine. Assuming Wiki is right, it looks like legal marriages would be honored in all Mexican states.
Maybe even Gene Wilder and his wooly partner has a chance, huh??

Not much different than the US. Two adjacent states, Yucatan and Quintana Roo view same sex marriage differently.
