My Nissan X-Terra is a 2007, and has only a mild patina of rust on it's unpainted undercarriage. No problems.

I don't believe many live in the surf area. Just a couple of complaints from the beach area. The Dana-produced frames seem troublesome - at best.

Hmmmmmm--------I have never seen any significant rust problems when the steel is not exposed to the weather along the coasts, or to roads having been salted when they have ice on them. My 1969 Ford truck has lived in the desert (or semi-desert) all it's life, never been in a garage, and has no rust other than a light patina on unpainted parts-------salt is the culprit, normally, in my experience.

These reports are very strange to me.

O.K. I admit it, I am the caboose in the long train of oh-woe-is-me tales of trudging eight miles to school every day through the snow, shoeless.

Tell ya what, I am happier than hell just being here. My politics fell off the edge of the earth long ago. My big joke is making my Mexican neighbors laugh when I tell them my car is so old and ugly no sicario in their right mind would ever think about hijacking it.

The refrigerator is empty, the bank account drained. I swallow enough medicine per day to make it a meal...

And I Am Happy To Be Alive. It Sure As Hell Beats The One And Only Alternative!

My daughters Tacoma suffered the same problems and it never left Colorado. She bought it new. Lots of other problems with very little interest from the Mfg. in solving them....

Oh no, you didn't bring that up did you.....come on now, according to some....GM is really owned by Obama and Buffett says we should raise taxes on the rich.....they are the enemies....come on now...it was their friends that made Toyota look bad to prop up American companies....it had nothing to do with cracked frames or floor mats.....:lol::lol:

You see far more Tacomas (and other Toyotas) on the road than any other brand of mid-size truck... You also see more old Toyotas than any other small (mini) pickups... at least around here in salty San Diego!

I didn't have a positive opinion of Toyota before I got one... In fact, I went to Ford first to get a Ranger. I am so glad they wouldn't talke my piece of crap Plymouth in as a trade! I went to Toyota Carlsbad and they were the best folks and taking the hell on wheels mini van wasn't a problem. Thanks to people like Neal Johns, Taco de Baja, Bajaboy, and other Toyota owners for strongly advising me or telling me how well these trucks are built!

I have never been on Edmunds.com to say good things about my Tacomas... But, I guess that is where the minority of people who have bad things do go?

Are you planning on repairing this pickup, or do you have a backup vehicle? You don't have much time before your next Baja trip.

He has a backup - my 1999 F-250 Extended cab 7.3 Powerstroke long bed 4x4 with 273,000 miles. It's the least I can do as payback for when he pulled me out of the sand south of Pta. Eugenio years ago. :saint: Maybe that's how the frame cracked?

Better yet, pack your bags and join us:light:

Hey, thanks for the invite! We will live THE Baja vicariously thru you guys. We have to head to THE Islands for a couple weeks for work.:smug: Hoping to squeeze in some scuba/surf/golf/hike. Wish me luck. :dudette: Abrazos to the familia!

Aha! Same philosophy as believing if cake bake well for 45 minutes at 350 degrees, it can be done faster (5 minutes) with far less energy, at 2,000 degrees.

You sure you want to go here?

You left out "increasing the base" out of the equation. So, "Lowering taxes AND increase the base" DOES produce more revenue over time-----just ask Art Laffer. :light:

Not sure where cake-baking fits in, tho.

----and, it is NEVER a good idea to waste "virgins" that way, and no Supply-Sider/Conservative would even THINK of doing that. It would be outragious!!!!
