Some things are entirely personal and should be kept that way, but some people have a propensity to think they're placed here to spread their particular brand of "pit" in everyone else's face whether they wanna hear it or not. Same with your brand of condescension.

I don't think I have ever read/seen any "political" post by David that is not in answer to somebody else's political comment within the thread that is over-the-top silly, and we think just wrong.

Even if I point it out to them, others can post politics and as long as it is liberal oriented, it gets a pass. Oh, but let me provide a little balance and all hell breaks out and the typical name-calling begins.

I don't usually begin any political debate...
but it is really obvious the opposition wants to silence me.
If I am so wrong, then leave my replies alone and they will die on their own.

The fear of the opposition is that my observations are based on reality (observations, or true science) and not far off forecasts of what might happen, in some future time.

Did you ever wonder why you seem to be at the center of EVERY political debate here? and why it does not happen elsewhere?

Your reality is a bit unreal, me thinks.

This board has gotten a little too much like The View. It also reflects the mainstream media bias. I think I'm over looking here for any useful information.

Like others have stated, I think I'm done sharing my experiences on here, for many reasons. Just like a small percentage of "off roaders" ruin things for the majority, a handful of people on here are allowed to drag it into the gutter.

I will request that you not let the negative posters who have nothing better to do than reply with hate or disdain for things they don't like or aren't able to do (ie. enjoy life in the manner so many of us Nomads can). By stopping your posts, you let "them" win. This is how real freedom ends. If "they" disagree with your actions or thinking, they label you as racist or some phobia, or because you love freedom are some extremist. In essence, they end your freedoms of speech and of association by silencing you.

Soon America (if not made great again) will sink into a lifeless cesspool where nobody has any rights because they were all surprised by loud mouths and the media, and worse yet, a president who has no love for the country his/her parents left for them.

I believe this is the first real political comment...oh my who posted it?

Useful information has been pretty scarce here for quite a while now, I stopped looking for or offering useful Baja info on this board a long time ago. Looks like the trolls have won, maybe Doug should consider a name change....

Or simply shutting it down. Seriously, it's had a good run... :)

If (that's a big if) a monitor/administrator could keep the discussion on topic (from ALL people) this forum might have a chance. Even then I don't know...even the most innocent of topics seem to become contentious.

Ralph, this was an on-topic exchange between Larry, Tom, and I about a locked gate and where it was, until Mt. Goat called us knuckledraggers, bezzell, and then you started up with the bolt cutter stuff. It's all on the first and second page.

Never let an opportunity to sidebar an off road thread pass, right?

So true, and always the same group dragging it down the drain with their childish bickering. It really is a shame...

I hope this site doesn't shut down. I have gotten a lot of useful info here and seen some great trip reports with beautiful pictures. It is very easy for me to skip the bs and move on without a reply. Leave it alone and it will die.

Agreed, but those statements were not political and not a sidebar. As an off-roader I respect the rights of private property owners under all conditions and will state so. YOU brought in the politics. If the discussion was to be private, then do it in U2U.

Many of us actually like each other, go out of our way to be nice, share our trips here, and go on Nomad group trips, like the one last year when we met ehall, Chuck, Larry (bajatrailrider), Harald (4x4abc), Karl (fernwah), etc.

In any large group, there will be different ideologies, it is just demographics of a forum. When we meet up for Baja group stuff, we have an excellent time. Those who mouth off here, never show up in person, introduce themselves, post photos of themselves... Why is that? If they aren't happy to be with others, then why mess up conversations we have here?

The threads that go haywire are the ones where one side posts an opinion (sea levels, off roading, etc.) and then gets angry if another point-of-view is shared. At that point, they go crazy with the insulting, name calling, and then twist it like it wasn't them who made it unfriendly. Can we just read all posts, post our own stuff and not have it get personal or insulting?

I think we should be able to work it out. Doug does not want to babysit grownups on this forum and only deletes or closes threads when it is extreme. We all can move on to another thread or another topic.

Post Reply?

That is the way the reply button should be viewed, with a question mark. Too many people see 'Must Reply!', and either start or add to the demise of a useful thread.

Sounds like some want a club instead of a forum. as someone used to say the Chicken Coup. SHould be easy enough to establish a closed group.

If you only want to hear the opinions you agree with, then, yes, you need a closed forum to foster a closed mind. The "bajatrailrider chicken coup group," perhaps?

The only problem is both sides being able to post here without any insults or name calling. Can't we all just share stuff about Baja and enjoy reading or exchanging thoughts, ideas or opinions, and no name calling?

DK, you're pretty quick to say derogatory things about liberals or pretty much anyone who does not follow your marching orders:?: Maybe lead by example?
