Keri,

As long as you don't paint at night, cause the cows might come out.

My favorite tv show was Winky Dink & You. My mom let me get the cool kit by ordering from a cereal box or something... it had a large green plastic to go over your tv screen, special crayons with which to write on the plastic, and a cloth to erase once you'd helped Winky escape some disaster or solve a puzzle by connecting the dots. Truly mesmerizing, it was.

Paulina... I'm from Illinois farm country and I know all about cows. If they come out in the night, we sneak up on them and tip them over. 'Tis said they can't get up - really!

I GOT IN SO MUCH TROUBLE for that show! Winky Dink and me, winky dink and you, we can have so much fun together....
I didn't know that crayola crayons didn't quite fill the bill...until my mom enlightened me. How much did it cost back then to order the special t.v. screen cover and magic crayons?

Ok, how about Hobo Kelly? You must have been one of her fans too.

NENA!!! I had a Winky dink set too! It took forever to come in the mail, and it was soooooo great when it finally did. AND I'm from Ilinois, but no cows to tip in greater Chicagoland.

Keri, bring your paints and come on down!

I remember having a fight with my mom, Winky Dink was falling from an airplane and we were supposed to draw a parachute for him.....I didn't have the special crayons or tv screen cover so I wanted to help him out with my own crayolas... he was going to die, I just knew it!

Captain Kangaroo or Mr. Magoo might have been of some help but Noooo.

I don't think the Winky Dink screen set cost anything, else my mom would never have allowed me to have it. Remember those were the days when several cereal boxtops could get ya something cool. (You could save Betty Crocker boxtops and get yourself a free butter knife.) Mom got Green Stamps with the groceries, and one could trade those stamps for most anything in the whole world.

In my home town there was a church on a corner, with a big sign hung from the steeple - sign the shape of a cross. Vertical bar said "Jesus", horizontal bar said "Saves". One of the locals crept up in the night and hung a large handmade sign underneath. Next morning it read...
Jesus Saves Green Stamps - how do you think he got this sign.

Keri - I don't remember the Lemon Drop Kid, but I won a Princess Summer Fall Winter Spring story book doll at some disney movie promotion.

Everyone here too old to have loved Mr. Rogers? I discovered him with my son... and immediately became addicted. Who else said to you every single morning.... "I like you just the way you are!"
