Lemon Drop kid =Bob Hope 1951. Anyone send the money in their parents pants and purses to Soupy. What ever happened to Baja, Did Soupy ever go to Baja? The cows are the ones with the foot fungus from college. Is Sonora wind on the leeward side/ Boy I don't know this is all to confusing for me. To set my head straight again I'm going to pour myself a wee drop of strawberry Tequila and fantasize about what I'm going to look like in the Tiara when it's my turn to wear it. I always wanted to be Queen for the day,k

Daily Affirmation with Stuart Smalley

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about Stuart Smalley. sigh.

I seem to have missed this Sheriff John character - was he a SoCal hero?

And Paulina, that's a darn nice outfit for meetin' the president!:wow: And I notice he was lucid enough to remember your name long enough to sign the photo. Musta been quite the experience.;D

I once met Geraldo Rivera in an airport - approached me and introduced himself (seemed to feel I should be impressed)... and then he (oh yuk!) kissed my hand. I found the whole experince strange and humiliating... but it is my claim to fame.:dudette:

Oh btw Paula, my wallpaper just fell off my screen again.
Maybe that means it's (dah dah dah dah) Bedtime for Bonzo. (of course we all get the Ronald Rayguns reference there)

Yes, I am embarrased about my fashion sense. That is why I have a sock problem. What should one wear when hanging out with Presidents? I should have written to Emily Post.
We did have a nice 4 hr. visit that ended with chocolate chip cookies and milk...I was invited again, but declined because I thought I was too fat for any further photos. What vanity will do to you.

About Geraldo, enough said about your first impression. I'm sure it will carry on. I taught his son.

For a thread that's been hijacked umpteen times this one is sure speeding right along.

Haven't thought about those Green Stamps in years, Nena. They seem to have disappeared while I was living some place else. Maybe we should revivie them?

It is a conspiracy I tell you...I have been jacked before so I know what I am talking about. "Is it impolite to let a thread stray from its original topic" We must stay on the Hijacked theory..."To me, it seems more rude if you start a conversation with another board member", like painting the bottom of a Christmas bunny to look like a pair of berkinstocks...a "thread about something that is interesting"
"what foot fungus medication""Control your trigger finger there, Pompano!!"lol::lol:"You were THAT roommate of mine in college" Jesus Christ is dead. "That to me is hijacking of the worst sort" not...Oh btw Paula, my wallpaper just fell off my screen again. sorta like "Jesus statue that just seems to naturally morph" into "That is why I have a sock problem"

I think they were called Blue Chip Stamps where I came from. There was a big store where we could go with our moms with paper books filled with the stamps. We could walk the isles to see what we could "buy" with our stamps. Kind of like the Brady Bunch kids, when they wanted the sewing machine.

I once chose a neon green plush wind up musical pig, a set of French glass dishes and a Jr. baking set. If my mom did a good job in her bowling league she could win more blue chip stamps to add to the drawer in the kitchen that was dedicated to the bounty.

I remember the machine that hung over the register at the grocery check out. If I could just get that lady to push out just one more streamer of stamps......

And it is a conspiracy. Do you think Ronny ever dreamed about what he could buy with his stamps?

Big dissapointment, never got one, but only played with chocolate milk----like Sherrif John, was he only a West Coast Person?

Well, time to slip away because ages are beginning to show. If you don't remember S & H Green Stamps befor Blue Chip Stamps----you must be a youngster.:lol:

Ah, a junior baking set ---just one of those wonderful toys that would NEVER be found in the stores today----loved my little boats that ran on candle power---real candles.

Green and Blue Stamps

I "purchased" a lot of goods back in the late 50s with those S & H Green Stamps. My Grandmother owned a large boarding house and accumulated a LOT of those stamps all of which she gave to me.

The Blue Chip stamps were created by a group of the Largest Grocers as an in-house competitor to S & H. The idea was to drive Green Stamps out of business and then, later, discontinue the Blue Chip. They, however, became so popular that they were still around years after S & H disappeared. When I was living out in Indio in the 70s, they were still around.

Speaking of Sheriff John, Engineer Bill and the like, last night on KCET's Pledge-Drive programming, they were airing the late Bill Story's "More Things that aren't here anymore". A followup to his previous "Things that aren't here anymore". The final part of the episode showed a number of the old L.A. TV personalities like Spade Cooley, Sheriff John, Engineer Bill, Joe Pyne, Clete Roberts. He didn't mention Tom Duggan, though, who I watched with more interest than Joe Pyne (he was OK, too).

Spade Cooley (The King of Western Swing in his time) was OUR equivalent to OJ Simpson. He was so loved that everybody (except the jury) forgave him for beating his wife to death in a drunken rage. Everybody I knew figured she deserved it and it was a shame to take him off of TV and send him off to prison.

Remember this guy anyone. I had a little almost worn out transistor radio found in the trash when I was a kid in Baja I would listen to Wolf Man Jack when I could get a nine volt battery. I remember the announcer would call out XE** Tijuana Baja California Mexico or something like that.
