San Juanico was doused with 12+ hours of steady rain. We had some stiff winds this morning, but nothing very severe. There has been minor damage to some homes (so far as I know), and it is probable that there is no access by road to anywhere for the time being. I took my dogs to the beach this evening, and it was very foggy, there was a lot mist and moisture in the air, the sea was jumbled, and they had a blast. It felt like a winter storm in San Diego, except it has never rained for 12 hours straight in San Diego.

Now a new system is forming off the coast of Central America. So long as these next storms travel straight out to sea, like they're supposed to do at this time of year, all is good.

Blanca turned out to be mainly a wind event here - we did get rain starting around midnight Sunday night, but it was minimal rain.

Power out from middle of the night Sunday til Monday evening.

As the weather people predicted, sounds like points north of us got much more rain.

Glad to hear everyone's OK - Shari, sounds like you need some hurricane shutters!

I'm glad you guys are fine out there Linda...I always think of you during hurricanes! Indeed this was a good rehearsal for things to come this summer and planning is underway for our windows!

this morning I was the sole walker as it is still misting and socked in with fog...I reveled in it remembering my past life on the wet coast of Vancouver Island where today would be a great day!!!

There is garbage strewn everywhere out here in the bushes at the point as all the town garbage flew out here. One structure blown down in the cove, we lost a plywood roof on a bathroom, peoples lamina flew off, lots of sand everywhere but my plants didnt do too awfully bad!

One of the maps, there from about 6 hours ago, shows it over Punta Prieta on Hwy. 1 and near Gonzaga Bay this afternoon:

Terry of Ignacio Springs (San Ignacio) B&B just posted the following:

"Great news, the hurricane has passed and other than a little flooding in the kitchen and shower house, all is dry. We thought we were not going to be flooded at all as it seemed to be mostly over and so Gary and our friend Pete who is here with us, went back to the office to watch the NHL playoff game that they were missing here at our safe house. All of a sudden there was water at their feet. They checked the river and the water was up a bit, drove to the dam where the water was going over about a foot deep but the worst flooding was in the small arroyo between our place and the highway, near Fong's. They made it back here last night through that water and went back to check this morning and the passage was shorter and easier. We are very thankful, all the yurts are dry, the pets are safe. We will let things dry out a little but we will be sleeping at home tonight."

30 mph winds near Gonzaga? Piece of cake. Many of us have chased our canopies into the Cortez on a typical day in that area!

Am glad Blanca was mostly a bust...but it sure seems early in the year.
