Pompano (and the rest of you contributing Nomads), we are sure fortunate that you have taken so many photos over the years and share them with us!

That hanging rock looks like one I see in Erle Stanley Gardner's book 'Off the Beaten Track in Baja' when he and the gang explored the Concepcion peninsula... around 1966!

The Point .... Hanging Rock '2004'

Well...that did it. The Baja Feeling has just about disappeared from this forum. Forget any more photos and stories from me. Adios.

Sharks, you can take your 'memory stick' and shove it where the sun doesn't shine.

-- Editing comment: In response to a few U2U's I will leave the below picture up and keep posting on BajaNomads for the time being.

Easy Rogelio, didn't you just tell me that there are always going to be 'negative nellies' who need to take a shot at whatever you are doing/saying/posting and just to forget them.

We others, really value and enjoy the fantastic photos and the verbage that goes with all of them. Don't let Nellies shut you down.

Hey Pomp

That was a fun book--"The Baja Feeling" by Ben Hunter, 1978.

Nobody could ever lose that feeling once they experienced it.

No, I ain't getting in the middle of this--did that once before on this board and I was the one who ended up losing.

Being a cop I should have know better because more cops get hurt handling 'family' disturbances than any other kind of call.

Seems like too many people on this board he just decided to delete them--Our Loss!

Doug Means I really believe that the delete button is tearing this board apart--in little pieces.

Don't get me wrong---I hope to God he does not go away because he has much more knowledge about Baja than most of us combined.

I enjoyed Sharks pictures but Pomp's can not be replaced.

Crap!

Only the person who posts or the moderator can delete one's own post. That is a good policy... Those who make unkind comments or get their facts wrong can edit or remove them. Why keep something up here that would only continue to cause problems? Baja is about FRIENDS helping friends to paraphrase something you had put on tee shirts we bought... Not deleting the unfriendly posts would turn Baja Nomad into another negative Baja forum... like there already is at Baja dot ....... (somewhere else).

Bernie, in reading Roger's short reply above, it seems both you and I missed the fireworks... Somebody had to make a sour comment about Roger posting or reposting his classic photos.

Pompano, please start a new thread with your classic era photos...

No! David

I read it all and totally disagree with you thoughts on deleting.

As adults we all have to be responsible for our words and deeds and we should not be able to hide them with a mere click of the mouse.

So if I call you a bad name in the heat of the moment, then an hour or day later regret it... I shouldn't be able to delete my own post???

That logic escapes me... I am here to have friendly exchanges or just share the things I have that others like to read or see.

On a few rare moments, people have been unkind to me or my friends... I may have vented back at them... Once that passed, there is absolutely NO reason to leave the garbage up here.

You do realize the popularity of Fred's board grew greatly when the garbage of hate was raging here a few months ago... You see NO personal interaction or conversation is allowed there... It is strictly for the sharing of Baja Travel information.

That tells me that negative posts chase people away... Is it fair to Doug that negative posts not be removed, thus chasing viewers away?

Let's keep it positive Nomads... We are human, so personalities will conflict or there will be misunderstandings... But the delete feature is the one way we can govern ourselves... Down with government control, up with individual freedom!!!

What in the world does the below quote mean?

The delete button is a very poor way to control our base instincts and let's us off the hook for being less than responsible. Case in point--we just may lose a lot of historical pictures just because someone reacted to Ponpano's pictures in a less than adult fashion and then he got hot and deleted his classic pictures--who lost--all of us!

I have been out on that road and seen the old manganese mine. We thought we were alone, but when we climbed a hill we saw another couple camped just south of us.

Thanks for the pics and reminding me of how nice it is out there. The last time I drove the road up the pennisula was in Jan, 2002, just after Juliet and the road was a real 4wd road. Every wash had taken the road out. How is it now?

The first time we went out there we found the remains of a ranch that belonged to someone named "Baja Patty". Does anyone know anything more about this place? There is also supposed to be some rock art out on the pennisula, but we never found it.

The road to the end of the Concepcion peninsula is documented in two guidebooks in my library: Offbeat Baja by Jim Hunter c1977 and Backroad Baja by Patti and Tom Higginbotham c1996. Also the 2003 AAA and Baja Almanac maps show it.

Oh, Bernie about this in your post: "Wow, You are starting to sound like a 60's hippy marching on our Government. I always thought you were to the right of Attilla the Hun."

Individual freedom is a conservative idea, big government is a liberal goal... I am for the former, as was the great Ron Reagan... Was he a hippie too?

Also, in San Diego: Map Centre, Discover Baja Travel Club, and Barnes and Noble books stores (where I got my last copy... in Santee).
