It is my experience that while camping in the outback with my woman one can never have too many baby wipes on hand.
Baja love.
1978 met Barbara in Baja we spent the whole summer together then lost touch?
1995 ran into her again in Baja on August 11th. She gives me her phone number!
First date (2nd time around) September 16th La Fonda dinner and dancing with nightcap and more dancing at Tijuana Tillys. Return to her house in San
Diego at 4:00 AM hug at the door and I am sent home to the OC! 4:00 AM!!
Second date September 20th lunch at Cueva de Los Tigres. Strolling guitarist plays 'Sabor A Mi'. Later she watches me as I get in an afternoon surf at
the point. Back to her place and a hug and a kiss at the door.
Third date September 23rd dinner with my father and step mom at La Fonda with overnight stay in separate rooms at Casa Pebley K55.
First Baja camp trip February ‘96 I take care of the camp gear she says she will bring the food. Cataviña -chicken breasts rolled around sun dried
tomatoes, feta and pesto sautéed in white wine served with ratatouille and a nice dry chardonnay, Scammons- bacon wrapped filet mignon with grilled
asparagus, ceasar salad and a nice full bodied cab, Requeson – duck tacos with local goat cheese, freshly dug steamed clams and some French champagne.
Am I falling in love?
Fourth camp trip to Baja September '96 10 days at Abreojos surfed everyday until arms fell off. She catches her first wave and rides it 500 yards down
the beach and has a smile as wide as……, I am thinking she is my surfer girl!
October 2nd 1999 married. First dance is to 'Sabor A Mi', the Los Lobos version. Followed by a three week honeymoon in Baja.
This week we start our month long anniversary celebration with a trip to the Monterey Jazz Festival (her first) a long time family tradition for me.
She is not a jazz fan but I predict she will be soon!
Good luck Jim and drive safely. I will wish for heavy off shore breezes at Abreojos to blow those pesky flies away from your girl! It can't hurt the
surf, either.
Post report! Inquiring minds need to know!

Gawd, I hope he brought something to fend off insects, after all the rain down there. Deet or netting or something. No fun hanging in a pop-up to
stay out of the bugs.
But, then, this is a new girlfriend.......maybe that's not so bad!

Man! Elgatoloco....
With a gormet cook like Barbara, you don't need baby wipes. You definately don't want to wipe that smile off your face.
Damn....I had lots to do today and now I have to stop because I'm hungry.

Still laughing---have not found one yet that works on washboard.
Looking forward to hearing how this new romance works.

OMG!
I had forgotten the most hilarious thing on our trip together. BHL, at 39 had never, lets say, used a shovel outdoors for 'personal' reasons. After 2
days, he grabbed the damn thing and stalked off down the beach. An hour latter, he came back happy as a lark, AND SO PROUD! Like a kid who finally got
the hang of a bike. He would kill me if he knew I repeated this story, but, humility and and story telling don't often please everybody. LOLOLOL!
Good luck everybody in pursuit of love. Remember to, if you want an honest opinion, ask your friends. Love can be blind sometimes...

it's atrue testing ground for sure, and if she digs it well, ya ought to probably keep her. i've had my share of girlfriends and a wife, and the deal
breaker was baja-just about every time. i was fortunate to have had one i lived with that loved baja as much, if not more than me, but other issues
terminated that one. it is a magical thing to find a mate that shares your love of baja.seems like they are a little tough to find, but if you
do-awesome! good luck to ya jim!

baja lovers
Gee, I never did find a boyfriend who loved Baja as much as I did and could deal with ALL the crazy stuff that goes on here, soooo I just had to marry
a true baja soul...an ARCE, born and raised in San Roque fishing village and a real keeper!
Hey Surfer Jim, stop in for a cold one (or 2) at our place in Asuncion if ya get down this way, I hear the road was recently graded from Abreojos to
here. I'd love to check out your new squeeze! We might even take you to some secret spots! PS: Got lots of baby wipes! Girlfriends usually love it
here. Look for us at the bufadora...end of town on the point, rock wall, palapa and horses, dogs, kitties and chickens...can't miss us!

My wife likes Baja, but says she doesn't want to stay there for long periods of time just sitting on a beach like I do. It works fine while she's
still working. I spend 2 or 3 months in Baja fishing by myself, and when she gets a 2 or 3 week vacation she flys down to visit. Several years ago
we spent a week in Puerto Vallarta and we both were thinking how much nicer it was in Baja to be on a beach by ourselves.
