4 Days to party time...

We ask that you please email us if you might be showing up at San Ysidro or CECUT to join the tour in your own cars, so that we can have IDs for you and your car!!!

Antonio has a lot for the San Ysidro parking, but wants to go there today and check it out before we publish the name or driving directions.

Those going into Mexico to join the tour at CECUT (Tijuana Cultural Center) OR if you were late getting to San Ysidro, cross into Mexico and head onto the bridge where you will see signs directing you to ZONA RIO (opposite of the Playas, Rosarito, Ensenada signed exit). You will soon pass by the big ball building (IMAX theatre at CECUT) which is on the left side of the divided blvd. and come to a big traffic circle... which you go around so that you will return to CECUT... Just past the big ball building, turn right on the side street which takes you to the pay parking lot. Just 20 pesos (US$2.00) all day...

If you have a seat on the bus then you will be returned here after dinner. If you don't have a bus seat, then after the CECUT tour, you will follow the bus to the next stop. See schedule for the day and GPS directions, above.

We leave CECUT at 11:30 am, so whatever delayed you getting to the bus, if you miss it at San Ysidro, just cross into Baja... you have until 11:30 when we plan on leaving CECUT for the winery.

The bus may be full, but there are no other limits to how many can follow or join us for dinner... as long as you let us know in advance, as soon as possible! email: viva@bajacactus.com

San Ysidro Parking Lot Details

Got this from Antonio tonight... Can any of you guys sharp with google maps or MapQuest please go ahead and plot this address here?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

>The one we are using is the:
>
>Border Station Parking
>4570 Camino de la Plaza
>San Ysidro, CA 92173
>Ph.: (619) 428-1422
>
>The fee for parking the whole day will be $7.00 Dlls.
>
>Getting there is extremely easy... coming from San Diego, going to the San Ysidro border, either by Highway 5 or 805, take the LAST US EXIT... that one is called "Camino de la Plaza". As soon as you exit, on the first light, take a right...the entrance to the parking lot is on the right, just about 20 meters from there. That is it.
>
>When entering the parking lot, please tell the staff there that you are attending the Viva BajaCactus tour, because they will have spaces already reserved for us there.
>
>The bus should be waiting for everyone at 9:30 am... and it will leave as soon as everyone arrives or at 10:00 am... whatever happens first.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BIG THANK YOU TO ANTONIO 'BAJACACTUS' FOR WORKING SO HARD FOR US TO HAVE FUN!!!

See you there amigos! 2 1/2 days to go...

Getting some last minute additions of people who will follow the bus on our Tijuana tour and dinner party!

You must email us you full name to gain you entry into the Command & Control Center and let us know who many Car signs need to be made... Also to let the restaurant know how many will be coming for dinner.

Antonio is pretty sure we can get police escort through intersections and across town... if you are in the caravan, you will have that same V.I.P. service! If we don't get a police escort, then at least the bus is pretty big for you to spot if we get seperated at an intersection... Plus, you have the GPS for most of the stops.

Let's have some fun gang!:yes::yes: Just over 2 days to go!

32-31.86', 117-01.39'

The next tour stop is the L.A. Cetto wine bottling facility and gift shop.

32-31.46', 117-02.22'

The next stop is The Cerveza Tijuana brewery and tavern.

32-30.85', 117-01.86'

The final destination is the LOS ARCOS RESTAURANT (La Mesa, east Tijuana).

32-29.57', 116-57.29'

Antonio has emailed me directions for Los Arcos for those without GPS... Note the web site for Los Arcos (all over Mexico... click on Baja Norte then the La Mesa restaurant.

Restaurant Los Arcos has a website with info, menus, addresses an locations...
check it out and pass it along please:

http://www.restaurantlosarcos.com.mx/engish/index.htm

Now, directions...

--- Coming from Ensenada, once you pass the Rosarito toll road, take the exit on
the right that says "Tijuana Libre"... drive for about 10 miles until you arrive
to a road cross that takes you either to "Downtown" or "La Mesa"... take the
exit to the right that says "La Mesa" (this exit is just past a big furniture
company that is on the road, to the right, called "Muebles Dico").

Once you take "La Mesa" exit, drive for about 5 miles... until you realize you
are driving down a long hill. That area is locally called "5 y 10"... you will
see a big tire company on the right, yellow painted, called "Llantera
Jaramillo".

Once you pass "Llantera Jaramillo", after about 800 meters, you will see walking
bridges... take a right there. That is Blvd. Diaz Ordaz... drive for about 3
miles and you will see the Restaurant to the left (after passing a big shopping
mall on the left called "Plaza Carrousel". (note from David: It is not 3 miles, according to my GPS it's just under 1 mile)

--- Coming from "Playas de Tijuana"... go to the border and drive as if you were
going to cross to the States...Once you arrive to downtown at the traffic light,
take a left, but instead of driving up the bridge that goes to the border on the
right, take the left road there, that is called "Via Rapida Poniente".
Directions continue below.

--- Coming from the US... cross the border and, instead of taking the exit to
the right towards "Playas de Tijuana", keep driving as if you were going to
"Plaza Rio"... before entering "Plaza Rio", there will be an exit to the left
that says "Via Rapida Poniente"... take it (watch out because the traffic is
kind of fast there and the exit space is small and brief). If you pass the exit,
keep driving to "Cecut" and in the traffic circle infront of it, take a left, do
not go over the bridge, instead go on the side road to the right... that will
take you to "Via Rapida Poniente".

---From "Via Rapida Poniente"... drive for about 5 miles... you will see a
"Price Costco" and a "Home Depot" on the right... soon after, you will see a
bridge going over the "Via Rapida"... pass under it and drive for a mile or
so... until you see another bridge over... there take the exit to the right just
on the side of that bridge, that is Ave. Benton (there is a motel on that
corner, you will also see a big Candy Store just before the Motel called
"Megadulces La Tapatia").

Once you exit, drive and once you pass over the railroad tracks (Blvd. Benitez),
drive 4 or 5 more blocks until the next traffic light, there take a right and
the Restaurant will be soon after, on the right, about 200 meters or so.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DK note:
A quick way is to cross at Otay Mesa, and follow the signs for Rosarito and Ensenada (passing by Home Depot and Costco) to the intersection with the overhead bridges mentioned in Antonio's letter... turn left and Los Arcos is almost a mile away, on the left.

See you there NEXT SATURDAY!

I'm now minus one for tomorrow - so there's now one extra seat available for the bus tomorrow in case anyone would be interested.
