I'm curious as to how much notice people were given and how the message was delivered. :?:

Thanks for the laugh, Kiwi.
And with as much #$%& as you all hurl, why are you picking on Kiwi?
And for what it's worth, I think Bruce is right too. If you're going to be part of the community, then do that. Quite an accomplishment I think - a politician's promise fulfilled. The news of this bank will spread quickly, and become important for all Baja travelers.

Perhaps there is an address for the Governor that we could write our thanks to ??
This will be good for all and he needs to be applauded.

I have the same question as toneart... Bruce is upset at lack of gringo attendance, but I only saw his report AFTER the event...? How was the English population notified before it happened? Do the Nomads at Concepcion Bay have another way besides Baja Nomad to learn of the governor's arrival and were they invited?

there were meetings before the event that no Americans attended. also for 2 days before the opening they announced it on the car with the loud speakers but the non Mexicans in this area wont allow them to go through there parts of town. If you are going to live here then it is your responsibility to stay in touch with your community. and not rely on the gringo grape line to keep you up to date. some of you might try going to some of the town meetings you would be more than welcome and the people of Mulege would start to think that there are some of you who really care about Mulege. every one wants the trash picked up or there fire put out but no on goes to the meetings that make these things happen.

You got the bat and you are knocking them out of the park on this thread.

Good on you!

"but the non Mexicans in this area wont allow them to go through there parts of town."

This drives me nuts and some of these same people say they like the culture and love Baja.....................their part of town , indeed!

many love the culture as long as they can look across the river at it but when it drives in with there music playing and it isn't Peary Commo s/p. they take it like an invasion.
now I am not talking about all but it seems to be a majority.

One good thing has come out of this thread and that is for those who don't know how involved & committed Bruce is, if they have read this they do now. I don't live with the Gringo's hear either and I get the water vender, the Tamale guy, the pan man blasting their services on a loudspeaker everyday. I get the biggest kick out of the guys who push those ice cream carts around all day in the heat of the summer to squeak out a living and don't forget the hot dog & hamburger carts at night and the fruit guy in the morning. Somehow in it's crazy and unorganized organized way it all works and this country rates the 2nd happiest in the world with their live and let live attitude. This site has a spell checker and so what if Bruce doesn't use it! Anyone need some TP?

your friends should have asked and waited:saint:

A couple of times the Loreto Bancomer has been unable to make change for me: "No hay cambio." Or fill the cash machine.

Maybe it was strong north winds keeping the money barge from crossing.
