I think we're looking at four separate pieces here-- the mermaid, the dolphin, the sphere, and the base. They were brought together by fate and the wind blowing in from el Mogote.

From Baja Insider

Many of the newest artworks are from the same artist Octavio González from Tepatitlan , Jalisco. Cast in bronze on the mainland, the statues include a breaching whale, an in-flight Manta and mermaid playing with a dolphin, which I believe to be the best of his works along the walkway. His works are available in miniature at many local art galleries as well as online. The waterfront castings stand 5 to 11 feet tall.

Well it is obvious that art is in the eye of the beerholder. Personally I like it and consider it a beautiful addition to all of the others along the malecon. The old man in the paper hat and paper boat is still my favorite. I like the seashell band down that one side street as well.

The old man, is he Mexicano? Looks more American, see the size of his feet?!

I think the mermaid is absolutely beautiful, even though she lacks a moose knuckle. But that's my problem (along with so many, many others).

Almost shot coffee out my nose on that one.

FYI: Moose knuckle a.k.a. camel toe. That's what I love about art - it stimulates conversation at so many levels. Its good that we can establish a baseline. Anyone care to see if this can go under water before someone squawks...

I see you have potential..Stay with it and, like me, at 61, you still won't be a "grown-up"!
