Oh no, one group likes peace and quiet another likes disregard and noise pollution. In my dealings with PWC's and unruly atv's Its usually a simple fix. Invite them over for a friendly hello then some serious "tough Love" from the group.Although if I'm alone and in the minority I may have to let them have it.But hey, at least let them know how you feel.

I suggest the navy and coastguard use them for target practice with heavy caliber ammo.
In my mind I can just see the tracers turning up their wake while they try to outrun the bullets.:P:P
And this from a non-violent person.:(:(

Tell me that was not a serious question...

Come to think of it, I'm disadvantaged. What does the average computer owner actually use the thing for? :?:

You nomad folks... what applications do you use other than the above mentioned?

Do you really think Loreto's Mexican Navy guys could hit one of those things?

Now if they could take one under tow...

I use to water ski at the river and at Mission Bay... The Jet Ski clowns took over and the fun was over. Throw rocks at them. They look one way while driving the other. Chase them down, chew them out.

Grover,
As you know... the riders are looking for a wake, completely blind to the skier in tow. Gave up water skiing because the jet skis were such a nuisance.

For years I thought the jet skiier was "after me". Everywhere I lived or went (usually on the water) over the years their population continued to grow. Short of a 'dirt bike' I can't think of anything any more obnoxious that a jet ski. Granted. There are responsible riders. For some reason we don't notice those. BUT I certainly do notice the ones others have mentioned. And then to find & settle down on the Sea of Cortez, and damned if again "they followed me down here". Vandenburg has the right idea!!!!!!!!!!

Snowmobiles are just as unpleasant. If you have ever enjoyed a day of cross country skiing only to have the serenity of the white wilderness broken down by the racket and holler from a snowmobile you know what I mean.

Speaking ONLY for myself, here's my problem with them;

The jet skis, or as they are called in Baja, "jet skys" are obnoxious and noisy. The drivers tend to run back and forth, back and forth, and then, back and forth directly in front of camp. I don't want to group all jet ski users into one catagory, BUT most of the operators are not aware of swimmers or fishermen, or people who like to sit at the edge of the water and enjoy life without a waterproof lawn mower running back and forth like chewing corn off a cob in their horizon.
If you get on the beast, then take it somewhere! Go fishing with it, put it to some use other then pretending you're an old fashioned noisy typewriter going back and forth.
Loud, obnoixious and annoying. In my opinion, that's what the problem is.
P<*)))><

And that speed and power seem to affect even otherwise nice people. My wife and I like kayaking in the Estero, but as you approach the Estero Beach Hotel, cuidado! The jet "skyers" evidently feel obligated to run off those irritating kayaks by continually buzzing them, speeding within a few feet of the kayak, and otherwise making it an experience that now keeps us off that water on weekends. Au revoir, ambience.

:(:(

In the "Great Pacific Northwest"..........some folks became so sick of the obnoxious noise and obscene antics and of the miserable type of people who operate jet skis that they passed a law banning the use of them in San Juan County. Turned out the some of the openets of the P.W.C. were actulaly going to launch sites and trashing out their cars and trailers. Some insensitive operators were harassing whales and other marine wildlife. Their were many studies conducted in the 80's and the noise polution from P.W.C. was concluded to be extreemly harmful to all marine life. ++C++

I've heard about these offenders, you take them anywhere and they'll pee you off doing whatever it is they do. I steer clear of them.

We (we're in our mid 40's) own Jet Ski's and always have. BTW, our two models, a SeaDoo and a Kawasaki, one being two stroke, and the other a four stroke, are two of three models allowed on Lake Tahoe because of their extremely low omissions. The newer ones have come a long way. None of that noise you've grown to hate either.

A lot of you are attacking all people who own jet ski's, and some of you are sneaking in other modes of transportation like motorcycles and quads and attacking them too?

It's too bad that jet skis are judged mostly for the irresponsible behavior that some use them for. They're seen as dangerous just as Pit Bulls are seen as dangerous although most are not. What a shame.

Ahhh... I'm camping on a beach with my daughter and someone pulls up with jet skis and a pit bull. I open a 12 ounce bottle of Gandhi and pack up and leave because such a huge percentage of jet skiers give the rest a bad name.
Pit Bulls? I like to relax while on vacation, not worry about my daughter's jugular being torn out.
I opologize to responsible jet skiers - have never met one.
