I actually saw a guy light a firecracker and throw the match. It looked kinda ouchy but no lost digits.

As a kid I used, at New Year's Eve, watch tough/demented guys, hold firecrackers in their enclosed hand and light them. Hand kind of acts like a gun's firing chamber and the explosion goes out both ends without blowing off digits. Never said that I grew up in a "hood" with brilliant people.:P:biggrin: and ,of course, booze had a way to deliver the courage :no::biggrin:

Bajamigo ;
Here they are (amongst the hundred others)

Name two places;
1. Five miles south of Campo La Costilla
2. Punta Pulpito

Don't you bury Lutefisk for an amout of time?

I bought some fireworks in Rosarito on a trip south. I asked the guy selling if there were any problems transporting or using them. He said no, just make sure they are wrapped up in the bag I he gave me when I bought them. Just your plain white plastic bag you get a gricery store. Not sure why this would make a difference for transporting, but I thought it couldn;t hurt.

NMO-baja lingo for "no more ordnance"

I would ask that the nice visiting party leave them home or destroy by H20 boarding the stash of explosives. On my last couple of visits to the Blowhole/ La Bufadora the explosives that went off were extreme and dangerous. These rockets, M-500 and M-1000 can jar your dentures out. A good friend told me of a child last season that will probably lose a thumb from an accident at Celias place. Apparently the owner shrugs complaints of problem. Of course if its profit motive, flak jackets and steel helmets could fetch a nice peso.

Isn't moving to Mexico and complaining about fireworks the same as moving near an airport and complaining about plane noise???:?::lol::O

No It Is Not!! I live in Abreojos and we do not have fireworks very often. In fact if they are a nuisance, the local police will kindly escort you out of the area.

I am sure there are many other areas that are the same way.

I guess you missed reading my earlier and first responce in this thread:

>>>The older you get, the less fun they become... and unless you are the one detonating them, they are just a lot of noise and hurt dogs' ears.

As far as taking them INTO Mexico... who will know, as the searching is almost never done... and fireworks are LEGAL outside of towns.

So, take them to a deserted beach were you annoy nobody, or could start a fire and have fun... but medical help will also be a long ways off, too!!<<<

So, no... no fireworks in 'TOWN'.... but as far as other places where they have been used for 50 years or more: Yes, it is like moving next to an airport trhat has been there for 50 years and then crying about the noise...

Freedom or tradition is a precious thing... you keep taking away more and more of it, and soon it is gone.

1) Freedom to do things that you enjoy (where they don't annoy others).

2) Tradition of using fireworks where it has been done for decades.

3) Don't move to where fireworks are legal and then expect it to change for you... gringo-ism at its best! (where's that jrbaja?)

FOR THE RECORD... I wouldn't want to live near it either... so I wouldn't move to San Felipe, Rosarito or any other place where they are set off a lot!

I HATE fireworks but, I'd much rather endure a few of those than somebody's loud radio with a bunch of squakky loud Ranchero noise polluting the air.

Ah, thank you

Freedom to pollute the environment as long as it does not ännoy"anyone.

Yes, we should all support all tradtion---like shooting firearms aimlessly in the air during celebrations---probably fewer people hurt than with fireworks, unless you happen to catch one of the falling bullets.

Who the h3)) said they were trying to change anything? That is your take on it. But guess you don't take credit for that one since you chose to footnote it.

This thread started because someone wanted to set fireworks off at the beach in Abreojos. Is this degenerating to oral (whoops - written) diarrhea David, or are you really an expert on the traditions at Punta Abreojos.
