Okay, You got Me to Stop Lurking w/ This Thread
I have been a lurker on this site for quite some time, and love (most) of the threads and the Baja online community you guys have created. I have
meant to register for some time, but for whatever reason I have not until now. This thread has finally got me to join in the fun as this past month
was our Baja rescue dog Banjo's Fifth birthday.
We have a place on the beach south of Ejido Erendira. Five years ago, our neighbors Stewart and Kathy were turning off Highway 1 on to the road to
Erendira. Despite it being dark, they saw a large cardboard box next to a small shrine that is at the turnoff. Stewart saw something poking its head
out of the box. Kathy said he was seeing things. He stopped and got out and discovered it was a box of puppies, too young to be away from their Mom.
He gathered them up (some had already escaped the box) and brought them to their lot.
We arrived the next day. He had them in a makeshift dog run to let them get some exercise (and trap unwary humans into taking them off his hands).
Needless to say, our two boys (12 and 8 at the time) kept bringing assorted versions of Baja mongrel by our house, pleading and crying. My wife,
Christine, folded, but demanded that it be a girl.
Anyhoo, here is a picture (if I was intelligent enough to follow David K.'s directions on posting photos) of her on New Year's Eve a couple of years
back. She started celebrating too early, and did not make it until midnight. Thankfully, she no longer smokes (same for us), but keeping her (and us)
away from the Don Julio is another matter.

Dang. What did I do wrong? I reduced the size. Followed the directions, I am confused (My wife just said, "So what is new?").
I will try one more time, and perhaps try again tomorrow

What we do for our dogs.
Welcome. I find it much easier to post pictures using a site like photobucket---if you continue to have trouble, you might try it. Just reduce the
size of your picture---I use the Windows resizer, upload to photobucket or another such site, copy the img box and paste into your post here.
Can't wait to see your pup.
Diane
On edit, while I typed you got it. Great picture. I still like, however, using the other sites as the pictures are bigger.
Love your pup

Thanks so much for the welcome. My son promised to teach me how to use Photobucket tomorrow. Let's see if I can post one of her as a puppy.

It's like when you tell someone your kids can say their ABC's when they are 2, you ask your kid to say their ABC's and they look at you like your
crazy!!! Love the fact, that they are looking in opposite directions!!!

I am considering doing this as a general practice also. I do have problems with it though and this thread is an example. Photo posters using an off
site host upload their photos TOO big. You cannot see the whole picture on your computer screen and have to shift it around to see the whole thing.
This also makes the post so wide you can't read the whole thing without shifting the screen over and back.
Folks should down size their images so they fit on the screen and then I love it.

Thanks for the tips. I am going to force my teenager to show me how photobucket works this weekend and try it that way too. Until then, here is (with
any luck) Banjo (also known to her boyfriends as Banjalina Jolie) with her little sister, Millie, also a rescue pup. I love all the baja dogs (native
and otherwise).
I have noticed several distinct subspecies of Baja natives. There must be a breeder of purebred Loreto street dogs as I have seen them elsewhere on
the peninsula. The other subspecies I come across often are similar to mine, and known for their enormous ears. I call them the Bat-eared Baja Barking
Dog.

I've learned a valuable training tool for them. The only way I can get them to face the camera for a picture is to say, "Want to go to Baja?"
Amazingly, it even works in Baja. However, this one was taken at Grandma Judy's in New Mexico.

Has anyone seen this dog in Todos Santos?
Hello,
We recently stayed at The Hotelito in Todos Santos and fell in love with the owner's dogs, who accompanied us to the beach every day. Upon returning
to the states this week we learned that one of them, Benito, went missing Wednesday night. We are so sad, as he's such a lovable character. The owner
has put a posting in The Onion, but I thought it might not hurt to keep spreading the word. Here's the information:
Small White Dog Lost In La Cachora - He disappeared Wednesday evening. Small white dog answers to Ben or Benito. No collar on as he had just had a
bath unfortunately. Please call 612 145 0099. Reward offered - Jenny Armit, jennyarmit@mac.com, 612 1450099, Todos Santos
Thank you so much!
