Why not take your time and stay at Cielito Lindo just south of San Quintin? If you get a late start or hang too long in Ensenada it is a cool place and I love the insecticide smell in every quality mexican hotel room!
Tell me more about the ladies at the Don Vicente!!

Cielito Lindo? PLEASE! It's a dump, the rooms are filthy, the margaritas suck, and the food is horrible and overpriced. Why in heaven's name would one want to stay there?

Never have a problem with a no pets policy---it is the choice of the owners, but we do have a problem with rude offensive behaviors and attitudes, and that is what we got from the front desk there.

We have heard since then that at certain times they will allow pets---we won't be going back to find out.

It is like everything else, some people like a place and others do not.

They did and we showed them the dog.
Walked him also around the premises.

Another option if you want to get further on down the road and are confused by all the choices in Gn...across from the Pemex in Vizcaino is a very nice, economic hotel Olivas...excellent safe parking.

I think Sirenita should show this thread to her boss....I couldn't care less if you stayed there or not...we stay at the Mini Motel Asuncion that is $15 a night...lovely clean rooms with a sweet plant filled courtyard...behind the hospital...no safe parking though and water was sort of lukewarm but the room was really nice.

Your Lhasa Apso would bark "Free Tibet!" and suggest you stay at a cheaper hotel and send the savings to Tibet freedom fighters. :lol::lol:

A friend stayed there a few weeks ago and had NO hot water---maybe it was just that day, but I would check for hot water first, unless of course you don't care about hot water.

:yes::yes::yes:

Our personal rule for the less expensive, and even for some expensive hotels anywhere in Mexico is if the water is hot---take a shower NOW.

Uh oh.

Uh oh from me too!

I travel with a dog and often stop at dog friendly motels. I have never been disturbed by other people's dogs (never experienced noise from them) and the rooms are always clean (no trace of dogs having been there).

Oxxo, are your objections actually based on bad experiences? I realize that some people simply have a perception that motels that accept dogs are dirty. That is not my experience.

I also realize that there are all kinds of reasons that some people don't like dogs. Usually the cause is either imagined or, if real, it is the dog owners' fault for not giving proper training. Agreed, some dog owners are obnoxious.

Oxxo,

I do not mean to dis you regarding your opinion. I am just trying to understand it. I try to be a responsible dog owner and try to keep him from bothering other people. Most people actually approach him because he is so friendly and good looking too. A few don't. They don't like to be licked (or slimed). :smug::o:biggrin:

Oooo Nooooo! Don't say " u pick up bed full of stuff". Bad imagery. I believe you are talking about your pickup bed full of stuff, but just the association of dog=bed drives some people crazy, including motel owners and clerks.

Agreed, dogs should never be allowed on the beds. Most dog owners honor that rule. :)

I came there 2 weeks ago, swung into the very first place there on the highway (don't know the name) never did find an open office, and the juke box was blaring so loud in the bar the I couldn't hear the waitress, she said something and pointed out back. I continued on past the check point and stopped at another "upscale????" Baja Sands(?) and they were charging $98/night. I finally found Malarrimo restaurant and motel on the right as you come into the commercial section. $38/night, free internet in the bar, a little spendy in the restaurant, but good, fresh seafood. It felt good and safe for a single woman traveling alone. They have boat parking and RV spaces, and a coffee shop area that might have a cheaper menu than the nice restaurant.
I'd been eating one Subway sandwich for 2 days, so I splurged on real food.
Make Sure You Gas Up before the long haul to G'ro Nego!

I guess when Smoke asked about a "good" place to stay, I was trying to give him an option. Yep Don Vicente is a good and cheap for sure but can be a bad experience for some....problem is Smoke didn't really give us many details and is not a "known" Nomad...ie..I don't know what kind of guy he is or if his wife likes nice or cheap.

So it would be easier to offer good advice if we have a bit more info on what kind of place you have in mind..

And of course your not biased at all either. Are you?

Shari,

What is a "known" nomad ??

I don't 'know" you either :lol::lol::lol:

Kind of a high horse your riding on there ....
