I'm spending the day recovering from the 3 of May at the Pyramid.

I'm joining a bunch from the college after work.
THEY want to go to El Torito Grill.
I was ready to point out what an Americanized place that is to celebrate a Mexican holiday...............then I figured, what the hell, it's perfect
for this "holiday' marketed to the US.
So, it's El Torito Grill for me...........

I'd call it better than that. And ET Grill is supposed to be higher end than the regular ETs.
But, the last time I checked, no beers or shots at Taco Bell.

It celebrates the battle of Puebla. That's in Mexico somewhere, right?

Cinco de Mayo a Gringo-inspired holiday? Not really.
Frances Toor's classic Mexican Folkways [published 1947] gives five pages to this holiday, most of it describing a reenactment in elaborate costumes
of the Battle of Pueblo that was a big affair at a place called Penon (probably by now part of Mexico DF).
Never has been much of a celebration in La Paz though.

Who said it was gringo inspired?
I think it's foisted on the US by the marketing of the mexican beer and tequila companies.
Lor' bless em..........
