If I had a house near that place I would sell it immediately for whatever I could get for it.

Anyone interested in selling, quick. I'll buy.

We are all going to die.

The first two floors of all the condo stacks will be underwater from global warming within the next five years, so nothing will stop the problem. Sell now!

Hurry, SELL NOW.

Woody, perhaps I can explain the breakdown in your logic here:

(1)Never bring a knife to a gunfight.
The Mexicans are well-armed, the 9mm being their weapon of choice. On the other hand, unlike in the US where law-abiding citizens have the right to have a weapon in their home, American expats in Mexico find it almost impossible to legally own a handgun.

(2)Mexico doesn't have a deadly force law.
In California, a person has the right to use deadly force to defend himself and his home. If a drug-crazed zombie is breaking into your home and you fear for your life, you can put a cap in his arse. The DA will do a short investigation, give you a high-five and leave you alone. In Mexico, the judge will ask you why you hurt that poor drug-addicted kid, who is only a drug addict because those P-nche Americans cannot control their desire for illegal drugs, and why you just didn't let him take what he wanted and file a police report. He will then throw you in jail for assault (or murder if you kill him). That is not an exaggeration, it has already happened.

I hear you. Just finished a Buchanons on the rocks. TGIfrigginF! All the windows in the casa are open with the tradewinds blowing through here in Cabo. Feels like the air conditioner is on and set to 72. Time to down a couple of tamales with a Pacifico. Tomorrow will be even better.

I have heard our place is supposed to be ready to move in by the end of the year. We are having serious doubts now because all our friends and family are afraid to visit us there, and that is one of the reasons we bought in the first place.....so, so very sad...................:(

We have had a lot with a trailor and have just completed a house and never had any breakins or vandalism since we've had the property (14 years). I enjoy Ensenada!! Sure, there is crime here but there is crime in Yuma as well.

You could always visit all of the Nomads in Ensenada!!!!

U.S. citizen, 64, stabbed to death in coastal Tijuana

UNION-TRIBUNE

6:30 p.m., June 27, 2008

TIJUANA – Baja California detectives are investigating the death of a 64-year-old U.S. citizen who was killed at his residence in southern Tijuana.

A friend found Ken Stuart's body lying by his front door at 10:40 a.m. Thursday, according to a Tijuana municipal police report. He had been stabbed several times in the chest.

Stuart lived in San Antonio del Mar, a coastal community of some 800 U.S. and Mexican homeowners at Tijuana's southern end.

“There's no evidence of forced entry or robbery or random vandalism in the house,” said Al Rosen, president of the homeowners association. “It appears that whoever entered the house, entered with the knowledge of the victim.”

The U.S. Consulate in Tijuana has been in touch with Stuart's family. According to the consulate, he was born in Virginia.

A spokeswoman for the Baja California Attorney General's Office said the investigation was ongoing.

The moral of the story is...

pick your acquintances, carefully. Should have listened to Mom's advice.

Lover's spat? Doesn't quite sound like rampaging rogue cops or drug kinpins.

Sounds like in death, this guy has already been more noticed than in life.

Can we move on and stop making an insignificant act of violence a world threatening event?

Those who live within 5 km, if you want to sell, just U2U me. I'll buy your places cheap.

Here's 22 of them for sale right in San Antonio del Mar:

http://www.baja123.com/Homes.aspx?tabid=1948546&__ts=121...

The combined asking prices are $7,986,000. Will you be paying for them with cash or a credit card?

...and here's another 29 or so in San Antonio del Mar that are for sale:

http://www.bajaoceanrealty.net/Homes.aspx?tabid=2020479&...

You may have to bring your checkbook. I think you may be over your credit card limit.

There's nothing selling in any area of Rosarito. I have arealtor friend building and selling San Antonio Del Mar- he's not a happy camper these days. I've been watching a house in my area go from $150K to $125K to $115K and that's turnkey furnished with a wall-mounted plasma tv only three houses to the beach.

I remember Nancy Conroy's Gringo Gazette North did one of their last stories on the gates of Baja Malibu. The residnets wanted to keep to closed, gated and secure from the public. The city (TJ- now that confuses me to no end beacue Rosarito has been separte for many years) made them take the gates down as it is not permitted to block beach access to the public. It's tough to have secuirty and free access at the same time- no?

I've heard people say that when sales are slow in Mexico they raise the prices. If you're not in a hurry to sell it's OK I guess. Any property is only worth what a buyer is willing to pay for it, period. Maybe the new WalMart in Rosarito can add home sales to an aisle- that's about what it'd take to get rid of anything around here. Of course that won't stop the building machine of oceanfront condos from slowing down any- even if they can't sell them this decade at any price. I'm surrounded by completed empty buildings... who would pay $500K for a 1200 foot "luxury" condo on federal zone land? It'll be a while. I think people with money to speculate with will do it on foreclosures on the other side- not investing in Mexico

It's nuts to me that Rosarito builders prices new houses so high. They keep saying it's the Golden Coast. Nope. Could have been and should have been- but the US economy and the narcos screwed that up- for a while at least. One guy at a luxury development was trying to sell $40K woodcarvings- I just looked at him like he was nuts (he must have been). I asked him if he even knew what prices were for houses in Chula Vista and he said $500K and up. Nope. Not any more. WhenI told him banks were dumping (REO) two year old houses for as low as $300K and that was driving prices down further he looked like I had just toid him the sky was falling. Oh yeah- that's the chicken little story- NOT the who killed the goose that laid the golden egg story... lol
