Dolphin Cove has softer sand than any of the beaches I've been to. Haven't seen any beach campers there. I suppose you could camp there but a friend
was questioned by the caretaker from the 1st developer while on his quad. No one can block access to the beach. So I'm told.  Some 6" pipe may work. Or a wheel kit.

OK, I will wipe dolphin cove off of my list. Is the access to dead mans beach any better at the north end than through the dump road?
Out of curiosity, do you know why they cut off the camping at the hotel campground?

Any additional information regarding the beach camping at Punta Chivato would be appreciated. My family and I have been camping there for over 20
years now. It's sad to hear they are shutting it down.

jahImpala3: I'm sorry if I led anyone to think that the camping is closed. It's still OPEN but no services. Toilets, showers, trash, water all gone. I
have not heard any plans to shut the camping down. New there is a new owner/developer. Also a new restaurant/store that is open Oct. thru May or June.
Come and enjoy Punta Chivato!

Russ----thanks for clearing that up---------we never used any of those facilities (other than the toilets) anyway, so for us it is still a beautiful
place to camp, swim, launch our "tin boats", and catch fish, and we ALWAYS carry out our own trash.

the reason we are turned off by the campground is that we HEARD that since the pit toilets and garbage cans are gone the area had gotten very filled
with toilet paper and grbage blowing around. Is this true or is it still decent enough to camp?

Haven't heard that the beach is dirty.There is a kind of cove there in front of camp to anchor up a small boat and you could yank it out if the wind
picked up with a car and a rope. It's hot now so you shouldn't have a lot of other campers and those that come in would be like minded and good
neighbors. In case of an emergency there will be some permanent people to help out. Bring at least a portable VHF radio and monitor ch 72. Consider
that we have to all listen to you and change channels after you make contact. It can be very irritating listening to private chatter. I really think
PC camp ground is a good first destination.

Hey Russ,
Is the road into dolphin cove still soft and is a 4x4 required. I stayed out there a year ago and had a hard time getting my rig in there. The beach
was great and the caretaker was cool to us. The softest sand that I have ever touched. A bit windy at times but beautiful.

palmeto99, I'm glad to hear the caretaker was cool. I really think/hope he's there to remind people to cleanup after themselves. The only soft spots I
can remember are at both ends of the road. At the start of the road if you go over the rise and enter from there it is better. It's almost a "U" turn.
But a 4x4 is always a good idea as is a VHF/ Marine radio. The wind at Dolphin Cove is almost the opposite as here in Chivato. There are a lot of lots
available at Dolphin Cove.
....I friend came by yesterday that talks often with the new project manager of the company that will develop Punta Chivato. He told me that their
plan is to put a guard house at the fence that boarders my house and the start of their development. They will restrict use on the camping beach to
day use only (someday). But their concern now is a road and water from the hwy. No power poles yet, Thank God!

Thanks. There has been some talk of power out there for some time now. Have the Luhan(spelling) family divested themselve of their holdings out there
as of yet.? I had met one of the owners of the Dolphin Cove development. Nice lady from San Francisco. She was having trouble with the plant police
from La Paz in regards to her roads. Its only a matter of time before water and power makes it to your place as it there is not a more beautiful area
in Baja Sur.

Have to agree with your thoughts about Chivato. But I like it the way it was before Raul came in. Most of his interests have been sold. Progress?

Just "heard" that the camp beach is becoming dirty. Some vacationers at this time of year feel no responsibility to clean up after themselves or
handle there personal needs in a sanitary manor. The landowner has been requested to help out.

that is indeed good news as he seemed to care more about the dollar instead of the residents there.(water)
They sure could build a house though
Solar and water delivery add something to the experience in my book and that will change when the power shows up. I hope the transition is a very slow
one..
