bajadogs... My world view comes from many places... including traveling around the world, living and going to school in another country (Australia), a
great father who taught me the wisdom and fairness of free enterprise capitalism in a republican form of government... and all the good conservative
ideals that made America so great others risk their lives to come here for that opportunety we have. In Australia, back in 1970 he showed me the
foolishness of socialism competing with private business and the superior quality of service that private business provides over government run health
care, transportation and other things.
It really is a shame that more or all Americans don't see how good it is here compared to the rest of the world (services, human rights, justice,
quality, etc.).
... and you just thought I was a ditto-head!

Hi Zac,
I am all for new technology! A hybrid Tacoma that performs and isn't rediculous in price or looks would be great! Perhaps a hybrid 4WD Highlander SUV?
I install the best new technology irrigation, because it uses less water as there is vertually no waste, and plants grow better.
I am into conservation... new technology... etc.
I am not into a government dictating what and how I can drive or the artificial costs in the form of taxes levied upon us by a bloated government.
We have plenty of petroleum to carry us through to when hydrogen or whatever fuel type autos are ready for us... We just have to get it... from our
own territory... Bring it on!

I have an 07 Tacoma work truck and I also wondered why no disk in the rear. My 04 GMC has disc all around and I was surprised to find that GM went
back to drums in the rear in the last year or two. It may have been on select models and since corrected the problem with the disk and switched back.
In talking to some of my mechanic friends the problem was the parking brake had problems. I can relate to that since I had a brake job on my GMC done
at the dealer at 50,000 miles and they had to replace the parking brake shoes and the rear pads but the front pads were OK. I just replaced the front
pads last weekend at 68,000. On my 93 Toyota I replaced front pads about every 30,000 miles but the rear drums lasted over 100,000 miles.

So, what I said ISN'T true, and this line is a 'diatribe'?:
"PBS??? The left hates trucks and SUVs... no wonder they made you believe that was the news!"
To make you and the other libs happy, the correct (PC) reply should have been:
PBS... now there's an unbiased news service! Since the left loves trucks and SUVs I guess the automotive news service is lying and Toyota is ending
Tundra production in the USA! How sad, if only they ate dolphin safe tuna maybe they would change their minds???
I don't know goat, I think I would rather post truth and facts that that kind of hog wash!

My '01 with front disc/ rear drum was fine... no brake issues at all... It was ABS.
My '05 also has front disc, rear drum... works fine, but I do not like the ABS in it, off highway or slick roads. Off highway, when I need to mash the
brake pedal, it 'growls' back at me and the brake pedal feels like it is going to the floor. I wish they left the same set up that I had in the '01.
Slick roads, freeway off ramps have startled me a couple times, too. Yes, I have rerported the conditions to which this happens and am told that is
normal ABS noise/ action.
There must be a reason beyond economics that the pickups have drums in the back? But I sure would like to be able to disconnect the ABS when driving
on dirt roads (it does disconnect when the rear diff is locked).
