The Boll Weevil that was on Morena Blvd. near Clairemont Dr. (Discover Baja's street location one mile east) has moved three miles north on Morena
Blvd at Avati St. very near Costco.
Still great burgers, and yes, Boll Weevil on Shelter Island is still open for business.

hey Pompano
when you hit the bar at the Brig tell Roger the bartender that Woody said to hook you up! we go back to elementary school.
pl seafood is WAY over rated.
hodads is pretty good but since it was on the food network there is a line out the door. not worth the wait.
if you make it into OB go to south beach bar and grill by the pier parking lot. starting at noon they have $1 beer of the day from the tap. every 15
minutes the price goes up .25 until it tops out at $2.75. they have a great pulpo coctail and the mahi tacos are decent. tell Heather Woody said hook
you up.

Speaking of burgers in SD area, the San Elijo camp grounds store and grill has an amazing burger and street tacos. Lobster tacos, oyster tacos, carne
asada, king crab tacos...and mussles & clams to die for. The owners used to own a few restaurants in the Pasadena area and then decided to move to
SD to get away from LA.
great food, trust me!
And yes the Apple pan is still open for business in Los Angeles.

Dave, what is the name of that Chula Vista burger place? I will be going into the marina near there and will certainly test one.

860 Broadway. Between Marina Pkwy and L. West side of street. Not called Boll Weevil. Not sure of new name but the exact same menu.
|
I found that place, Dave. Thanks for the tip. It was very easy as I had just left the Visitor's Information Center a few blocks away. As luck would
have it...I was hungry.
It's called

It is indeed the Old Boll Weevil in Chula Vista.
It was high noon and time for a burger. Odd thing...I met a cutie waitress/owner? named Patsy. Very nice friendly
gal.
I told her I was there on a burger recommendation from 'Dave', whom I know from a Baja online forum. Her eyes lit up, she smiled
from ear to ear and asked if that person had a boat in Baja named SeaQuest? I couldn't answer that. She seemed lost in some dreamy
thought...a sweet smile on her lips....

I was on a mission, so got the cheeseburger to go...and thoroughly enjoyed eating it while dodging illegals jogging north on the freeway. I highly
recommend this very good eatery to any hamburger fans.
Thanks again, Dave. Does Patsy have a sister?

I'll tell you how bad and expensive Pt. Loma seafood has gotten...
In May this year my brother came out to visit. He wanted to go to the Fishing Landings to check things out. We decided to eat a lunch at Pt. Loma
Seafoods. We ordered two "Seared Ahi tuna" sandwiches and two medium cokes. Each sandwich had a piece of tuna about 3" diameter, a tomato slice, and
piece of lettuce on a hamburger bun. Total cost for the 2 sandwiches and 2 cokes ??? - $30 !! Yes - Thirty Dollars !! We could'nt believe
it...even the guy taking our money seemed a little embarrassed. I'm through with Pt. Loma Seafoods for good...never again.
If you want some excellent seafood for good dollar value go to "MARISCOS HECTORS" in East Lake. Heck...for $40 we stuffed ourselves with ceviche
camarron, marlin tacos, fish tacos, etc. It's all Mexicans who go there and they demand good Mexican style seafood not the idiots who think Pt. Loma
Seafoods overpriced fish flavored beer batter tacos are so great.
Also everytime I've been by the Red Sails Inn (RSI) its always empty. RSI has been around what 50 years? It's been a local hangout/bar for as long.
I think their food is mediocre and overpriced.
Also...Fishermans Landing Tackle is the most expensive place to buy fishing tackle in San Diego bar none. If you don't mind 30%-200% markup on prices
go for it. But if you want the same tackle / Baja supplies at near wholesale prices then go to Squidco Tackle on Midway Drive. They are a low markup
/ hi volume tackle store that literally is putting most other tackle stores out of business in San Diego.
For a good hamburger ??...go to the "LONGHORN" over off of Mission Gorge Road in the strip mall by the Ralphs. Heck the Charger front line used to go
there.

This is a true statement!! Baja Angel worked at Kaiser Hospital (behind/next door to the strip mall) and we would have the Longhorn Buffalo Burgers
for lunch anytime I was in the area... real buffalo (bison) meat. VERY good!!
Now, how about the presentaion last night by Zack, anyone go?

The book sounds great, especially if it is being introduced by David K.
How does it compare to the Baja Catch? Is the Baja Catch still considered to be a good resource for fishing the Peninsula? Is this new book similar,
or do both cover different aspects/areas, etc?

It is an extremely well done book and as the title says, it is about trailering your boat to Baja's hot spots. Maps, where to launch, road conditions,
etc.
The Baja Catch is more about fishing itself. Both books belong in your library or truck!

Just got back from San Diego the other night and discovered this thread. Thanks, David K, for the plug! I myself thought the talk went pretty well, if
that means anything. At least it was fun to do. Did one the next night for San Diego Rod & Reel Club at the Bali Hai, which was quite a bit
rowdier, but also a lot of fun.
Incidentally, I'm doing a little holiday sale on the book--25% off now through the end of the year. That's $22.50 instead of $29.95.
BajaBad--to get a good idea of the main focus of the book, go to my site and click "Sample Chapter" on the front page.
