Found another great wifi place, just north of the border (Otay). It`s the Brown field dine, dive, and c-cktail lounge and a great place. Photos of military aircraft on the walls, you can walk outside and watch the planes doing their thing, and you can eat with your dog on the outside deck. Waitress was a little tired and grouchy but delivered my BLT quickly and it was delicious. Signs on walls say "free wifi". Nice open area to walk your pooch out front.
Only bad thing was getting to the Otay border crossing (north bound). Seems like when they finish one section of road work they start another. Took about 20 minutes to go 2 miles. Only about 15 minutes once there, just a hassel getting through traffic (my dog LOVES traffic jams in Mexico. Sticks her head out the window and smiles). Anyway, a cool place to get the laptop out!!

our house has excellent free wi-fi for visiting nomads.

We got stuck in that Otay road construction nightmare for an hour last week; only blessing was that once we got through that and into the SENTRI lane...NOBODY THERE BUT US!!!

I may have posted this a long while ago. Many folks here are sharing their WiFi systems with their friends and neighbors. I do. But if there are a lot of people on at the same time it really slows down. I have a Hughes net system that only has limited down/up load service so if some one over uses it the whole system is slower than dial up. By far the most popular antenna to extend the distance is the AirLink 101. It's a directional USB plug in. Some people can see my WiFi system 4 miles away. I have it secured now because I was getting over loaded with unknown others using my service. OH, Iramble so, Here's what the antenna looks like:
