I did not see the accident, forgive me for being the passenger

but thebajarunner was driving safely and did not hit his brakes causing the biker to stop suddenly.

I do know that we stopped immediately and ran to render aid, radioing to our caravan to slow down the oncomng traffic, probably preventing mishaps.

Thanks for asking. My hip replacement went very well. Right shoulder replacement comes in 2-3 months. Left hip, probably next year. Looking forward to getting back to Baja and fishing. As for the drugs, yes, they are a blessing. Have another beer Me-now.

How low is low?!

MeNO,you are even worse than you appear to be, and that is difficult to top (or bottom out, as the case may be)
You post early, make the most ridiculous personal attacks upon me, plus some really pejorative (look it up) remarks, get me to reply in righteous indignation, then you edit your post so that the late readers can only see my indignant response.
That is sick, bucko, simply sick.
You wanted a scuffle, you got it pal.
You need help, and you need lots of it.
I resent your personal remarks and comments, I greatly resent your deletion of same after posting them for the early readers to see.
Read the 200+ posts I have written, not a single one is edited, not one. That is because I carefully review them before posting, then I stand by what I said, not take the weaselly cowardly way out and delete after I say it.
George Bernard Shaw told a wonderful story that you should embrace,
It seems that a man got on a train, turned to the stranger next to him and said, "My, I feel terrible, I have the worst upset stomach you can imagine."
He groaned and moaned for a bit, then turned and suddenly vomited all over the stranger in the next seat.
Immediately he smiled, turned around and said, "Well, now I feel much better" as his seat-mate sat, silent, wiping vomit, smelling the sour, putrid fumes form his new strange acquaintance.
Pal, that is how I feel, you are feeling swell tonite, you puked all over a stranger.
Get out of my life, get one of your own.

Ya know I tried real hard to see something wrong in bajarunners original post but I am stumped. I mean yeah the caravans are a hassle but it's a free country and everybody has a right to use the road. It seems to me that it is incumbent on the person passing to use good judgment. I personally very frequently do not pass even if I get a blinker from the person I wish to pass if it does not look and feel safe to me. Bottom line, the guy was behind him trying to pass on a curve. Even if bajarunner strayed over the sometimes imaginary line for whatever reason the whole idea behind defensive driving is be in control and alert. Whats the big deal here. I mean if you want an argument lets talk about Bush.

following a caravan of slow moving RVs can be a pain

but bajarunner was in a suv/pickup caravan towing a couple of boats, moving at a decent speed, constantly communicating via CB to each other about oncoming and passing traffic

nothin' wrong there

actually, very safe

and please, no Bush discussions

Now going back it looks as if the only post was edited was the first one. Once by me, remember now even when you make an addition, it adds edited by so and so. Then baja nomad went and changed something.

BajaRunner quoted

What a perfect analogy to describe this situation. I do enjoy your stories and Baja experiences, please don't stop BR.

hey bajavida I just reread my post and I never said RV, just caravan. Since we are being so dam nit picky here I thought I would let you know.

How would you define a caravan?
Websters defines it as:

Main Entry: 1car?a?van
Pronunciation: 'kar-&-"van
Function: noun
Etymology: Italian caravana, from Persian kArwAn
1 a : a company of travelers on a journey through desert or hostile regions; also : a train of pack animals b : a group of vehicles traveling together in a file.

And the bush comment was a joke

I was defending bajarunner dude.

ssssheeesssss....time for a beer me thinks.

Hey lady, there is life after 'total hip.'
My orthopedic surgeon hiking partner had a total hip done on himself at age 50, then went out and climbed Half Dome and Mt. Rainier, ten years later he is still up on the ski slopes every Winter.
And thanks for the support from 'you know who'

Bajabus- you can't hurt Baja Vida's feelings, he is a tough Democrat who can dish it out, in fact the only reason he does not want to debate Bush with you is that we are headed to Yosemite on Saturday for a 10 mile hike and a 6 hour car ride and he knows the political fur will fly. (But then you mentioned "BEER" and he perked right up....B.V. has his priorities)

As to Dufus, he asked my age, I told him it was none of his business, then I told him quite clearly that I was not old enough to collect my Social Security and he somehow has wrapped a 75 year old man into the equation.
His problem apparently is not just comprehension, but computation as well.

Totaly dilusional

Well Me-No, I'm glad your getting away for a good rest. As for leaving us to 'stress' over this situation, we are not. Actually, from the flying emails, the opinion is of pity for you, that you are in your own world and actually believe and justified in what you are doing and saying. One quote from a Nomadian was, " There but for the grace of God go I"
Amen.
Thanks for the encouragement BajaRunner, actually, I am way ahead of schedule in my recevery, I was out of the hospital in 3 days when the Dr. predicted 5-7. After 8 days, I am doing 21 day excercises. I am a strong motivated gal with things to do. Hopefully, I can get the shoulder out of the way as quickly and catch the end of fishing season. Already have a trip with some 'Baja Gals' planned for the fall. BHL and I plan to hit Mammoth just before shoulder surgery. Have a GREAT time in Yosemite boys!
Hugs, M

Runner, I liked that road story, but the series of replies that followed has changed one of my views.

It's always seemed to me that despite my strong disagreement with the political views of some of the regular contributors to the Nomad forums, there really isn't anybody I wouldn't enjoy sitting around a campfire with (or maybe hoisting a few in a bar) and talking about Baja California.

Well, scratch that! Me-No (which I'd guess must be based on "Mean-o") is someone so relentless in dumping on other people's parades that it would be difficult for me to discuss BC or anything else with him.

M, that's a formidable set of operations, and it's good news that the first is over. Hang in there, and know that a whole bunch of people are wishing you the best!

Thanks Bajalera

I'm only 44 so I imagine by age 50 I'm going to be hauling around 20 pounds of scrap metal in my body! NOT THE FIRST OPERATION, last May, I had 2 cervical vertebre colapsed and they had to transplant bone from my hip and screw in a plate. Seems I'm either getting over or looking forward to some kind of surgery lately. Luckily, I just found a great Endocrinologist that is determined to find the cause of all this stuff. Whatever, one step at a time.
Hugs, M

Bajabus--I know that you did not mention RVs

my point was that we were moving at a good pace, not like some RV caravans we have all followed

RVers, like the rest of us, have the right to use the roads, no problem there

I know the comment about Bush was a joke

all is cool by me:cool:

Some one Goofed and the Tourqquiet was left on too long, resulting in my Leg turning black and damaging the main Nerve in my right Leg.

Since the operation I have developed the following:
High Blood pressure
Pee Control
High PSA Level
3 Stents outside of my heart
Circulation Problems in the right Leg causing it to collaspe when standing.
Extreme Pain in the right Thigh.

I now know what can Happen when a Tourquiet is left on too Long!

Things are looking up.Excersie and Gods Good Help and I will be able to "Hit the Slopes"

So Prayers will be said for you and I will appreciate yours.

Good luck in your full recovery.

As I read through this post my blood pressure went up, and up, and...then I realized what a great bunch of folks most of us are, how helpful to others, how concerned, how supportive. We are fortunate to have such a great collection of friends.
