Here are some copies of the e-mails I have:

YOU WILL LOVE THIS ONE. A COUPLE ABOUT 80 ISH JUST ARRIVED WITH A U-HAUL OVER HEAD UNIT. I ASKED HERE WHERE THEY ARE GOING NORTH OR SOUTH. SHE SAID NORTH AND THEN POINTED SOUTH. THAT IS NORTH RIGHT. NO THAT IS NORTH AS I POINTED TO NORTH. WHERE ARE YOU COMING FROM LA PAZ. WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO. TO ARIZONA SHE SAYS. CAN I GET THERE FROM HERE. YAHHHHH. HOW DID YOU GET HERE, ON THE FERRY? NO WE TOOK A WRONG TURN IN TIJUANA AND THOUGHT WE COULD GET TO ARIZONA FROM HERE.

I ASKED HER IF SHE HAD A MAP, DAH. NO. I SHOWED HERE WHERE SHE WAS AND SHE COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. GOD HELP US.

WHAT A MESS. NO INSURANCE OR TOURIST CARDS AND NOT A LICK OF SPANISH. GETTING IN MEXICO IS A HELL OF A LOT EASIER THAN GETTING OUT.

I THINK THIS IS THE BEST STORY IN ALL OF THE 8 YEARS I HAVE BEEN HERE.

BRENDA

THE PLOT THICKENS. IT IS 1:45 AND THEY ARE MAYBE ABOUT TO LEAVE. I JUST WENT DOWN TO SAY OK WE NEED TO GET THIS ROOM CLEANED FOR THE 3RD TIME. I GAVE HERE A MAP WITH SOMEWHAT OF AN PLAN. SHE SAID THEY WERE GOING TO DRIVE FOR 8 HRS. I SAID OH NO. GUERRERO IS FAR ENOUGH. THEY HAVE NO CONCEPT OF WHAT TIME IT IS. SHE SAID THEY PRAY TO JEHOVAH. HE WILL TAKE CARE OF THEM. JEHOVAH SENT THEM DOWN HERE. THEY ARE PRAYING TO HIM TO GET THEM BACK HOME. I SAID YOU BETTER BE PRAYING DAMN HARD TO GET YOU OUT OF MEXICO SAFELY. THE GUY SAYS WE ARE IN MEXICO. OH chit, I SAID YES YOU ARE SIR.

SHE STILL CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT IS NORTH AND SOUTH. I GAVE HERE A MAP WITH NOTES TO GET TO TECATE. THAT WILL BE EASIER. THEY ARE GOING TO PHOENIX. IT WILL TAKE MORE THAN JEHOVAH TO GET THEM THERE SAFELY.

GOD BLESS U-HAUL FOR RENTING THEM THE DAMN THING TO BEGIN WITH.

sounds like brenda doesn't care. maybe you should not post her evidence of partial intervention, as when couple are found dead, brenda could have some liability (at least in a US civil case). or maybe you should post it.

I think Brenda flunks hospitality 101. If you own a hotel and people in their 80's show up lost and clueless the human thing to do is to help them, and maybe with more than just a map. And it is uncool to make fun of your guests:rolleyes:

Whoa...don't get me started on multiple mental disorders, but there are a LOT of JW's prowling around Baja. It should be pretty simple to find some who might take some time off from their door to door sales work to lend a hand to their own converts.

Someone with an interest might post something here:

http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/

It is a discussion board.

Personally, I'm a Darwinist and this sounds like natural selection.

We were chased off the property by Brenda two years ago. They had a big sign by the road about a restaurant and bar. Couldn't figure out why someone in the hospitality business could be so rude. We were just checking out the property for future consideration. I'm very gringo lookng and over 60. So, it wasn't like we could be casing the joint.

Are you saying gringos are less likely than Mexicans to be thieves?

Basically, yes. At 60+, I cannot imagine anyone to think I am a vandal. I can live without staying at her place. good luck to her. However, when in Mexico, we prefer to "buy Mexican". No offense to the many Canadians and U.S. ex-pats who have poured tons of money and sweat and tears into their dream businesses, but as I said on another thread, when I am in Rome, I don't go looking for a taqueria.

Sorry howodd, but I have got to ask: What is 'gringo looking' (to you)?

San Francisco of the 1960's with flowers in your hair...or what?

You may have been one of my high school teachers, and while as they were as nice as pie (as I am sure you are)... their looks would cause anyone in Mexico to lock their doors!

There has to be some kind of reason for her behavior, don't you think?

Dunno. Paranoia perhaps? David, mi amigo, you would look at me and never in a million years think I was Mexican.

That's not what I meant... 'Gringo looking' is more than being not 'Mexican looking'...

How long is your hair? Do you have a beard... is it trimmed? Tatoos and piercings like a biker dude? All of those are 'gringo looking' to a non-gringo... Gringo is or could be any Norteamericano or foreigner (most often American citizens).

I hope you get treated based on your attitude and not your appearance, however.

Gracias amigo!

Hmmm... we are failing to communicate here... I have no reason to think you don't treat Mexican friends well.

The question was about 'gringo looking' and trying to figure out why you were not welcomed by the inn keeper.

that's okay... I think I understand...

Have a great Sunday... and don't forget to SPRING AHEAD ONE HOUR this morning... unless you aren't in the U.S. or are in Hawaii or Arizona!

Cabra, have you even tried reasoning with a JW..............alzheimer's or not????

If reasoning was part of their makeup, they wouldn't be a JW in the first place.

Wonder when they thought Jehovah put an ocean along the route to Arizona? Oh, and made Spanish the preferred language. That right there tells me Brenda did all she could do, short of abandoning her business and leading the two persons to the border.

I agree!! We spent 3 days at the border tring to get our 28' U-haul that we bought for $3000 to bring a couple hundred thousand dollars worth of constuction stuff down. We were even armed with a stack of mordita (100 dollar bills).....We never made it! An importer finally got the stuff down to us.
That being said a guy who works for me was from China and when he came to the US he was living in San Francisco and was headed to LA to pick up his daughter and headed in the wrong direction and didn't figure it out till he was in washington state right near the border of Canada!!!:spingrin:

You know they probably got the 'red light' at the border... but were oblivious to it and its meaning! Now we all know how likely the migra guys are to chase you through Tijuana!!!

Very true, David.

In my younger days, I have gotten the red light and just kept going. They all just shook their heads and went back to business.
