That is exactly what I was thinking "TW"! Johnny Campbell's beach run was a featured section in the movie with the Honda Factory Team owners directly overhead in a helicopter watching. Campbell could not catch Andy Grider by making the sandy path pay off. In the end, Honda ended up winning the overall with Steve Hengeveld on board and Kawasaki did not file a protest.

Ironic that Andy Grider is now Robby Gordon's navigator? In my opinion, cross the checkpoints @ their designated locations and any route in between is fair game.

The desert has an insatiable appetite for attrition when it comes to off road racing vehicles and that shaved four miles of track might be easily considered 50 miles worth of wear and tear and that is why no one else opted for it. Every driver pre-runs the 250, 500 and 1000 over and over and have done so for many years. If they are saying "we didn't know we could drive through there", they are flat out lying.

I am not even a Robby Gordon fan, but I am on his side on this one. The man has guts and boat loads of off roading skill!!
